What People are saying

Ok, but would not go again

Very simple accommodation, no plugs for electricity, there was mould in the shower. Nice breakfast, 24/7 check-in is no problem and staff is friendly. No coffee after breakfast available, no plugs in the lobby - very inconvenient for working purposes.

Campanile has to have a bad apple and this is it

I've used the Campanile chain for many years. True, it's a motel chain, but it's run on a franchise basis, the restaurants are always up to a certain standard, and (critically) they're open on Sunday evenings.

This was a business trip, with four colleagues. I'd stayed at this place two years ago, and it was fine. Not this time.

We arrived on Saturday evening, and the restaurant was dark. We were told the restaurant was closed every weekend. Didn't we know? Well, no, of course not, because every other Campanile I've used in 30 years is open at weekends. We got one of those Gallic shrugs that indicate: "Your problem, not mine."

So we ate at a nearby Chinese on Saturday and Sunday, and booked a table for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday night saw us ravenous after a day at a trade show.

There was one young girl trying to serve all the tables and she couldn't cope. We waited 15 minutes to order some drinks: two beers and a bottle of rosé. When she returned (without the beers) it was to tell us they'd sold out of the Provence rosé we wanted, and also of the other one on the list, but they had some rosé 'pamplemousse' (grapefruit). Thinking this was a brand I'd never heard of, I nodded, and got a bottle of bloody grapefruit juice mixed with wine. Oh, and the beers never arrived.

We could see other tables were waiting a long time for their food, and at this point we bailed out, got in the car, and drove into Chantilly.

At breakfast, a colleague poured milk into her coffee and saw flies swimming in it. Yes, the milk jug had flies in it. The wifi didn't work, and when we asked for the password for the alternative Campanile network, the young lad on the desk shrugged and said he didn't know it.

Busloads of Chinese tourists were disgorging from and re-embarking on buses, and the food items on the buffet were also labelled in Chinese characters, so we surmised that the place had turned itself over entirely to their bulk cheap Chinese trade: people either just arrived at, or soon to depart from, nearby CDG airport.

The rooms were up the usual Campanile standard: simple, clean, and the bathrooms had loads of hot water. Good.

Sum-up: an utterly hateful five nights. I have never had an experience like this in a Campanile before, and if anyone from the chain is reading this, please do something about it.

Clean and functional. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is limited as is the wi-fi. Good parking and security. A base to go somewhere from but not to spend any time. It has the feel of a place to rest your head

Stayed here while working close by.Rooms very clean good bath and shower.Ate in the restaurant all ok.Plenty of parking space,ALDI supermarket next door. 25 minutes from Charles de Gaulle airport,10 minutes out of Chantilly but a couple of nice restaurants in Lamorlaye which is in between.

small and dank

Worse than the average Campanile property. Tiny rooms as usual, but this one
wasn't very clean. In our room we had numerous spiders. The third bed was really
just a box with a piece of dirty foam on top of it, not an actual bed. There were only a
couple of outlets and the parking lot was mostly blocked off for tour bus parking.

One up side, one of the beds hadn't been cleaned. The sheets were used. When I
reported this the front desk staff jumped into action and it was fixed in minutes. The
front desk staff was very professional and helpful all the way. If not for that I probably
would have changed hotels.

I won't say here again, and I may not gamble on Campanile again after this
experience.
