What People are saying

Super nice food!!

xAxNxGx on 13/11/2017 10:08

I rated very good, the only reason I didn't say excellent was down to an onsight "contractor" who tried to enter a couple of our rooms pretending to be a cleaner. Having said that... once reported to staff, the situation was dealt with immediately. Beds were amazingly comfortable, room was clean, food was to die for!! The restaurant itself is enough to bring me back 👌

Bring A Blanket!!!

"motel more than a Hotel"

wasn't a bad stay, just a few niggly bits that could have made it alot better, basic room for the small amount of money paid, easy to find when travelling here (I thought it would be a lot harder as I looked on Google maps the day before arrival and thought I was never going to find the right place) 😂.

room quite dark, even with the lights all on and the curtains open, lovely view of a hedge 😂 (I'm not complaining, I was here for an event in town not for the hotel view)
tea making facilities (yes!) kettle took about a year to boil, n the tray is broken so hanging off the wall a little bit not very safe.
quite a large tear in the quilt.

by far the coldest place I've ever stayed in! I slept with my coat on it was that cold. bed is comfy though, I had a fairly good sleep when I finally warmed up. little or no heat coming from the one electric heater, although the one in the bathroom is very good!
small things to keep on top of, dust! lamp fixtures and head board covered in dust, dirty mirror on back of door, few cobwebs in the corners. few flies on the curtain. Windows n door doesn't keep the cold out, very drafty indeed.
would have been a more pleasant stay if it wasn't so bloody cold!
staff friendly enough and welcoming, neighbouring guests loud as anything!!

Waste of money

AVOID.AVOID!!
Absolutely shocking , i have stayed at cleaner festival camp sites , carpets are filthy , bedding pointless. ( don't if u want to sleep look under the sheets at the mattress ) the young lady in the room next door was more polite and useful than the staff who for some reason was asked to leave , if I could have rated it lower I would !
If u do stay toby carvery is a 5 minute walk there breakfast is much nicer and cheaper and same for a half decent meal .

Basic hotel

This is a clean but very basic hotel.
The staff are really good friendly always happy to help.
The room smelt of smoke. Pillows was to small for the bed.. only 1 plug socket not close to the mirror. The continental breakfast is very basic not much choice for the price.

Definitely Improving Hotel

I was back at the Campanile for the third time in about a year and a half and I can see definite improvements.

Bearing in mind it's a favourite of workmen and stag/hen parties because it's cheap and located on an industrial estate yet still close to Wakefield and surrounding areas, the staff do a heroic job.

The only bugbear I had was a very rude builder who obviously thought I was in his spot and parked so close to me I could hardly get the car out. When I came back 20 minutes later after collecting my friend, he'd parked in the spot I'd been using and left me no room to get in at all. Chalcroft Construction, not that I'm naming names but nothing to do with the hotel, of course.

It was very quiet on the Sunday when I went, getting busier as it went through the week. The room was clean (which I suspect is no mean feat considering some of the cllientele) with a nice TV, decent tea and coffee, clean bedding, spotless carpet. The toilet, basin and bath had obviously had a lot of hard wear but they too were clean and I was happy enough to use them all.

I chose the continental breakfast which is very generous but could have had a full English breakfast if requested - it smelled delicious but too early on a morning for me. All of it was lovely. I had toast and cereal but they also had croissants, crumpets, ham & cheese, yoghurts, fruit as well as fruit juice and tea/herbal teas/assorted coffees to choose from.

I believe that some of the literature says they do lunches but that needs changing as they now only do breakfast and evening meals. I had a quick toasted cheese sandwich on the Sunday night and chose the pasta and New York cheesecake another day and again I couldn't fault them. The menu is not huge but it is generous, tasty and reasonably priced. The restaurant area has improved massively since my first trip when they had huge rows of tables like a cheap cafe. They now have separate tables set out for two or four people and some nice comfortable seating.

Once again, the main thing I noticed was the staff - helpful, pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them.

If you want five star accommodation in the centre of town, then go elsewhere but if you don't mind an industrial estate and basic accommodation then it's great value for money. As I've said, the food, the restaurant and especially the staff are great.
