My husband son and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as I had a course in a neighboring hotel to attend.
The hotel is a budget hotel and is a little dated, however the staff were so friendly and helpful and made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms were spotlessly clean and refreshed and tidied each morning. On our first night we ate in the restaurant, The food was quick to arrive, was very tasty and good value for money.

It's not amazing, the food isn't very good and the room smells a bit damp.
The bed was large but lumpy.
The bed though, was clean and the staff cheerful.
If you can accept that the pumps from flushing the toilet will wake everyone around you... Then all is not lost.
It was, beside the noisy toilet, a quiet place to get my head down.
It ain't the Ritz. But I don't suppose I can stay at the Ritz for £45.😀

Although a little dated it is still great value for money. Clean, good sized rooms with generous sized bed, Plenty of parking even has electric car charging points. easy to find just off the A1M, with location ideal for access to many areas of the North East. Room rate excellent if on a tight budget.

To preface my review - I paid £49 on a Saturday night and only booked 36hrs before.
With that in mind it is hard to criticise this hotel as it is always going to be very basic and it was certainly that. It was tidy and it seemed relatively clean and was just a place to get my head down. I arrived at midnight and checked out at 9 and it did it's job.
The one criticism I will give it and is the difference of Average to Poor is the fire alarm went off at 0820 on a Sunday morning. A lady then went round knocking on the door asking 'Shower? Shower? Shower?' on every door in the corridor.
Clearly this is a reoccurring problem and it is not acceptable with that in mind.
I would only recommend staying here if there are no feasible options elsewhere.

This hotel is back in the 70’s. Woodchip walls only one socket and no bedside charge sockets, Rooms shabby although basically clean. Musty, old cigarette smell in rooms. Worst was only one towel each and not very big either, anyone over 9 stone wouldn’t be able to wrap it around themselves. No bath mat in shower, bath was a skating rink which made getting in and out of shower only possible by hanging onto shower fixture. Couldn’t even use a towel in bath floor for safety as then my husband wouldn’t have a towel! Internet only 20 minutes free.
Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Breakfast ok, but decor etc same as everywhere else.
