Italy 2017 road trip

I stumbled across this place when looking for a break from the madness of Rome and we instantly fell in love. Set away from the main strip and town, this site is large but very private. The motorhome parking area is powered, lit, 100m from private beach access and very secluded - reminded us of rough camping in Australia's Gold Coast.

The facilities are also great - pizzeria, HOT showers, laundry and play area away from accommodation for kids. We were looking for one night away from Rome and are now going to stay 5 nights until the end of our trip!

For a family wanting wifi, peace, beach, space and a powered site, we are in heaven.

SUPERB!👌

arrived last Monday all hot and exhausted travelling from UK, plus got caught in a traffic jam on the motorway, just needed to relax. The location is lovely, trees all around, not far from the entrainment (swimming pool etc. ) and even the main shop is just a few minutes walk. Would stay here again and again, the only thing is the pool was freezing when you first got in, but what do you expect in a hot climateHA. 10/10

Nice camping although it is not worth it's price

I have just spent 8 days in Parco Della Gallinara Camping with my family. We thought the camping area was nice with all the beautiful pine trees and it is perfectly close to the beach, but we didn't think it was worth 1.492 eu. The staff wasn't very welcoming and they didn't inform us about the services at the campsite. The pool cost 3 eu and kids are not allowed to play in the pool. Furthermore the staff where not able to recommend any places or restaurants, which you would think is a normal service at any high priced international campsite or hotel?! Every night you can hear loud music - so if you seek a calm holiday in the nature - it's not the place to be. Local beach is sandy and nice although it's full of cigarettes in the sand. We thought is was a bit odd, that you can't go freely to the beach. You have to ring the reception and wait for them to open a big gate?!! Notice that it is expensive to rent sun beds. We lived in a little house/cabin. It's was clean, cozy and well equipped but you have to buy your own hand soap, toilet paper and all the basics to be able to dishwash and clean tables. For the price you would expect the house to be more equipped?!!

nice get-away 1 hour away from rome

the village itself is huge and only a small area is used. we went to the bungalows so i have no direct experience with the camping facilities. the little "cottages" are very small but functional: there is cutlery, pots, pans, glasses, cups, plates and bowls (no microwave nor oven), the bedsheets and towels are provided, screens have been put on windows so the mosquitos stay out (except for the bathroom), a/c is included (especially important for those bungalows which are not located in shaded areas) and the bungalows are distant enough from each other that you can enjoy a bit of privacy in case you need to yell at your kids for misbehaving :( a little pathway brings you to the gate where you have to buzz to exit/enter. you then only have to cross a narrow but busy road to get to either public beach or private facilities (Galapagos). parco della gallinara also has a functional mini market with honest prices and at times, you can also find semi-prepared meals which is quite convenient. if i recall correctly, the market is open until 8pm, which is normal business hours for rome. the pizzeria/restaurant and entertainment (from previous years) were so/so (obviously entertainment is in italian). last year, the village added a pool, playground for kids, and three little micro-paddling pools that kids love to jump into with dirty feet or food. There is also a tennis court and football pitch. The only real trouble i encountered was that (apart from a few exceptions of real camping lovers) the people using the camping facilities are usually not very well mannered to say the least, but this is not the fault of the village. another detail that can be improved is the paved street leading to the village entrance: the roots of the trees have completely uplifted and damaged the cement so be prepared for a bumpy ride. The sea in front of the village is the nicest in the area (i have looked around for 3 years now). So overall, yes, the bungalows can be pricy (especially in august) but they are the perfect solution for people who want new mobile homes that do not stink so they can take advantage of the sea and beach, all located just an hour away from rome.
