Very nice for its category
Jason Yon 17/09/2017 18:14This was my 1st time at a Candlewood Suites but I had heard that it is IHG's more "budget/economical" version of Staybridge Suites. So, going in my expectations were appropriate; I wasn't expecting a "deluxe" hotel such as Intercontinental nor was I expecting all the same amenities/inclusions that a Staybridge Suites would offer. The property/rooms were definitely clean, rooms comfortable (especially the beds and the recliner chair), spacious and a nice table area where my parents (in the connecting room) and I enjoyed our Glass Nickel Pizza. Friendly staff as well. For the category of hotel, this was excellent and will stay at more Candlewood Suites in the future.
Great Stay
Tyler Mon 02/09/2017 15:01Candlewood Suites in Appleton was comfortable and clean. Check in was quick and simple. Their staff was friendly and helpful when I asked about the area. Located right near the mall, this hotel is a great choice. Would definitely recommend.
Not the best, not the worst.
Maddie Lon 02/09/2017 05:39My experience began with a late arrival, after 1am. The gal at the desk was friendly, but didn't ask me for an ID or CC at check in. This was a bit concerning, as safety and security are a top priority for me as a woman traveling alone. It made me feel a bit uneasy knowing that anyone could have just have come up and given my name then been given keys to my room (with my credit card on file.) She also made no mention of the rewards club, welcome amenity, etc. When I asked her about it, she seemed a bit confused and eventually offered me an item from the pantry, though I would have preferred points, but she didn't give that option.
After arriving in the room, I pulled back the sheets to find a black, curly hair on the pillowcase. Not ideal.
The layout of the room was a bit unusual. The bed was less than a foot away from the wall on one side, which would make it difficult to get in and out with two people in there. I will say, it was great having a full kitchen, and COFFEE! The rate was very reasonable, so that was also nice.
The bathroom was clean, which was great. So thank you!
An hour or so after arrival, I tried to call the desk to ask what time check out was. The phone in the room was plugged in, but had no dial tone. After adjusting it and it still didn't work, I went down to the front desk to ask. The clerk let me know check out was at 10am. I asked about a late check out, as a rewards member, and also we had gotten in quite late. I was told that they didn't do that there, which was also disappointing.
The next morning, I mentioned the issue with the phone to the woman at the desk. She informed me that the phones don't work til someone is checked in, and that I had never been checked in in the computer. Fortunately, after being walked in on in more than one hotel, I always flip the latch to lock the door. The woman didn't seem concerned when I reported this, and didn't ask how my stay was, so I didn't bother reporting the rest to her.
Overall, I probably wouldn't stay here again based on my experience, but I also know I have high standards, so it's probably fine for most.
Super-clean
Jay Won 11/07/2017 19:18This place is more like a home away from home. It's around a ton of stuff in Appleton, and the room was very nice and clean. I would've liked some fresh bananas to purchase to go with my oatmeal that you can purchase at the commissary, but heck, you can't win em all !
Nice place but......
datin_tanon 29/06/2017 01:37Well honestly is a nice place to stay. I stayed at this place twice in the past 12 mths. I like the kitchen in the room. There is a gym (small but it is adequate) I almost use everyday. The wonderful thing is the hotel provide free laundry service.
I experienced something funny during my last stay, and this is really the very first time I had after staying at more than 60 hotels in the past:
1) My booking was 3 weeks and I intended to check out after my 2nd week stay, to spend my weekend somewhere. The staff insist to charge me a penalty for "early departure".
2) I wanted to re check-in after spending my weekend somewhere else, but was informed that there will be NO ROOM for me. The reason is because I didn't put a booking. (My booking shall cover up to 3 weeks how come I have no booking ??!?)
3) I request to store my luggage for 2 days when I'm away, but was not allowed because "no place". And I shall communicate that few days before that.
Well, all the above actually I had informed my plan when I'm checking in, and the staff said "no prob".
I finally found a better place and will not return to this hotel in future.
