We were without power because of hurricane Irma. We were very lucky to get a room that would take our pet. The room was awesome! Kitchenette, sitting area and separate bedroom and big bathroom.
What We hoped was going to be a one night stay turned into a week. We were so grateful for the comfortable accommodation.
Great location, staff was superb. Very friendly and accommodating.
I highly recommend this hotel.

I booked a stay here for me and my mom but didnt know it was only one bed. They were So sweet and let me leave without charging me. Super duper nice people. I would recommend staying here for sure! Me and my mom went into the room not knowing I had paid for one with only one bed and so I can still speak on how the room looked. It was awesome! Everything looked so modern and clean...and comfy! The bed was tall and super nice looking. The decor was cool. The bathroom was modern and updated. The kitchenette was so cute. It was also modern and very updated! I just absolutely loved how it all looked. Had modern touches and extremely clean.
Please don't over look this review! STAY AWAY!!!!! STAY FAR AWAY!

Let me first start off by saying that I depend on Trip Advisor very heavily. I review everything thoroughly and most times I do have a chuckle at reasons that people leave a bad review because let's face it sometimes they are just silly.
My first impression of Candlewood was good. Owen was the man at the desk and he was wonderful. Full marks for his knowledge and professionalism. That being said upon arrival a woman was at the desk complaining about the smell in her room. Ok, fair enough. I didn't know what was going on until it all started making sense.
Candlewood Clearwater is a pet friendly hotel...for a few pet owners can have their pets stay in suite with them. I get that, and it's great to be able to offer pet friendly hotels as pets are an important part of most families. Now- just to clarify the sign on the inside of my door states no pets allowed on property, so someone, some where got their lines crossed and made that boo boo. Secondly, I do not travel with my pet because I respect other vacationers and I am a considerate person. My pet would terrorize the place. As a responsible pet owner that is my decision. However, we have stayed at other pet friendly hotels in the past and it has never been an issue, never even knowing there were pets on the premises. This was not the case at Candlewood Clearwater. As soon as we arrived at our suite on the second floor the smell was enough to knock an elephant out. I urged at what seemingly was the oder of wet dirty dog. Once we were in our suite the smell wasn't quite as potent , still lingering tho.
Maybe you could have a certain section of your hotel only to be pet friendly , and notify guests upon checking in about the oder and the noise...oh lord the noise. I would suggest to maybe perhaps update your door info about pets being allowed on the premises and to maybe see if the rules were being followed about keeping pets in suite, because in the suite across the hall from us made our stay a complete nightmare.
Now let's talk noise. You know that thing that you like to do at the end of a long day on the beach beat out from all the outdoor activities in the sun- I think it's called a good nights sleep? Sleep? Sleep? you won't sleep. Two dogs were located in the room across the hall from us left for 4-5 hours on end until 1230am howling and barking....I don't mind a little noise, not by any means but these dogs sounded like a pack of wild wolves. I actually recorded it on my phone and posted it on their twitter page. It was ridiculous. Between the reek of wet dog and the howling I must say Candlewood is really turning away some potential business from humans that pay money....that $75 pet fee must really be worth it to them. Perhaps organizing their pet friendly section and rules a little better would be something investing in. As their pet policy states when the owners are away from the hotel the pets must be in a crate or a kennel. They were not. We could hear them running to the door anytime any one walked by their room and sat there howling and barking. And further proof was when the owners returned and I could actually see the dogs run to the door to greet them.
I let it go the first night because we were so tired and figured the dogs were just excited. But the second night after 3.5 hours of constant howling and non stop barking I called the front desk. The man on the phone apologized and said he would look into it. Not even the tv turned up could drown out the howling. There was no follow up call, and nothing happened until about an hour and a half later when the owners returned. I had to use twitter to get someone to look into this.
Another tip- what ever you are using to get rid of the "wet dog or dog pee" smell is not working. Seriously. I don't blame Candlewood fully for this bad experience but their pet policy is something that needs to be revamped and reevaluated if they want to keep paying customers. Perhaps dogs can make money and continue renting rooms out because they are clearly running the show in this hotel.
Also. If you are a pet owner- you know your pets, if you have no experience of vacationing with your pets stop being inconsiderate and ruining other peoples vacations.
Stay away from this hotel. If you want a relaxing stay you won;t find it here. If you want to smell wet dog and listen to howling all night, by all means book this hotel , it's completely literally gone to the dogs.
Meh. $75 pet fee.

For $75 a night it's ok. The smells throughout the hotel are terrible. Our first room could have knocked down a donkey. New room is clean. They have some items you can buy for breakfast. No free breakfast.
