Disorganised and poor service

Plastic inside my salmon, notified the waitress who nodded her head in acknowledgment but then continued to talk to her colleague. Gave it 5 minutes before notifying her again much louder, only then did she come over. She did apologise, but am concerned she did not resolve the problem quicker and rather preferred to finish her conversation. The afternoon tea here is affordable but would rather pay more and not have bits of plastic in my food.
The apotheosis of good taste

Setting foot in the courtyard of the hotel is like sampling pure oxygen. The birdsong, the fresh air, the greenery and grounds are the first things you savour as you tread upon the gravel. Entering the lobby you're greeted by the most charming and efficient staff, who are genuinely delighted to see you and will go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one. Take a moment or so to enjoy a glass of chilled water infused with lemon, mint and cucumber while you are being booked in. The twin themes here are attention to detail, and good taste. Boy, do I mean good taste.
The lounge should set things up nicely, resembling more a gentleman's club or parlour than anything else. Conversation is friendly, relaxed and mercifully subdued, a world away from the harsh bray you find in most hotel lounges. The guests are a mix of old money and new and just ordinary families in-between. Nobody appears self-conscious or uncomfortable in the subdued light and one can only wonder at how the hotel exerts such a relaxing atmosphere.
It's the room. My my, what a room. The deluxe park view room an exercise in subdued refinement, the kind you would expect NBC's Hannibal to sleep in. My wife and I were momentarily stunned, caught between the warm sunlight filtering through from the stunning view outside, and the glorious glorious decor. From the wallpaper and drapes to the sheer size of the upholstered bed, the goose down pillows to the luxuriously stuffed sofa, it's impossible to savour it all in a single glance.
As for the essentials, well it has a bed that could comfortably sleep four, a shower that offers a pleasing scorch and a deep tub with a headrest, allowing for that much-needed soak. Here and there, the attention to detail shines through, from the umbrella and picnic blank left in the room's lobby to the generous selection of Ren goodies for the bathroom. Even the bathroom has two light switches, one for the ceiling and one for the underside of the sink unit, giving just enough light to visit at night without disturbing your partner.
Nothing is left to chance here, from the underfloor heating and towel rail controls to Lavazza coffee machine with steam wand: you have as little or as much control over your comfort as you could possibly wish for.
I could go on but at some point I'd be getting the projector out and treating you to shot by shot analysis.
The point is, Cannizaro House is more than just a hotel. Every molecule of it exudes a calming wamth, giving it that elusive quality hotels seek but rarely ever master- atmosphere. Breakfast here is more like dining at The Shard - there's a true sense of savouring the experience. And well you should, given the effort put into it. No crude buffet but individually cooked breakfasts, beautifully assembled pots of fruit and granola and mini French press coffee pots. Taste, and attention to detail, in every pace and every mouthful.
My wife and I have been three weekends in a row purely on the strength of one visit. Each time we've been welcomed warmly, given the room we loved and treated with old-world courtesy that made us wish we lived that much closer. From the grounds of the magnificent Cannizaro Park to the genius who decorated the rooms to the amazing and wonderful staff, there is refreshment for the body and soul and I hope you will be fortunate enough to partake

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend, as we were doing the Wimbledon (tennis) tour the following day. It's in a great position and offers free parking, which is a great bonus. A short walk across the common gets you to the lovely Wimbledon village in 5/10 minutes, a 20 minute walk gets you to the tennis club.
We met up with my daughter unexpectedly so at check in I asked if they had any rooms available, they did but it was the same as the on line cost even though very last minute so I tried online and found it cheaper, so booked this. We were welcomed at reception and shown to our rooms by the very friendly receptionist which was a nice touch. We had two rooms next to each other which was really convenient.
The rooms were lovely, we had booked the standard room but it was spacious and very comfortable - massive beds. Bathrobes and coffee machine all as standard, large bathroom with very deep bath and great shower. Breakfast was served in the beautiful orangery overlooking the gardens/park, a lovely setting, the food was great and plentiful
And the service was friendly and attentive.
Overall, a great hotel and a lovely stay that would definitely have attracted a five star rating had it not been marred by a rude male receptionist that checked us out. He claimed that I hadn't paid for one of the rooms, despite me showing him the booking and the payment on my phone, he said that they hadn't received the payment. This went on for several minutes and it wasn't until the other receptionist leant over and looked at the screen and said very quickly that it was fine and there was nothing else to pay. At this point there was no apology he merely said, " my colleague says it's paid" in a manner that made me think he didn't believe her! It was a shame as it just soured an otherwise lovely stay.
Amazing setting in the heart of Wimbledon Village

Stayed at Hotel du Vin Wimbledon for my birthday and I wanted to thank everyone at the hotel who made my stay so special. From the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out, I was on cloud nine. Thank you for the extra special touches.
