We spent two nights at The Carlton Hotel, and we will be returning in three weeks for another night or two. The rooms are quiet, clean, and have comfy beds. Nice size bathrooms with a great shower. The staff is super friendly, and very helpful. This is the fourth Stash hotel we stayed at in the last month, and we will now look for this hotel brand in our travels.

The Carlton is a small (52 room) boutique hotel that has been tastefully renovated. We especially enjoyed the option of patio rooms, which have French doors opening onto a shared courtyard with patio furniture and umbrellas. This feature enabled us to entertain the grandkids while their parents rested. We recommend three excellent dining options within half a block: The Carlton Bakery and Cafe (in the same building), the Streetside Alehouse (two doors down), and Byblos Mediterranean restaurant, which is around the corner and will deliver promptly. We chose the hotel in part because of its proximity to central coast wineries and because all of the nice hotels in Paso Robles were booked, but it turned out to be an excellent choice. Although it’s near the freeway, it was perfectly quiet and the rooms very spacious and comfortable.

The Carlton Hotel is an imposing structure. Built in the 1920's, it has been thoughtfully renovated and has a definite luxe feel both inside and out. We stayed in a Vintage Double Queen and were very satisfied. I have mobility issues and found the room large, the shower easily accessed, and the amenities first rate. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room rate was very reasonable. Atascadero is a small charming town---there was a parade the day we were there. The central location makes visiting a winery or six, the coast etc. an easy jaunt. We would most certainly stay again.

We have stayed in many hotels,but the Carlton ranks up there as one of the best. The ambience is so inviting. The building was originally built in the 20's and it has the charm of an elegant hotel. The room is super big and the bathroom is also big. It even has a jacuzzi tub. The bed is very comfy....you get in....it's hard to get out of it in the morning......it is that comfortable! The front desk service is very courteous an knowlegable and eager to help. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and will stay again the future.

Great mid-size hotel in Atascadero with great access all around Paso Robles wine region. An adjacent restaurant space is currently closed, making this hotel a little isolated from top restaurant dining options. However, the rooms are great, especially the second floor rooms with access to a private courtyard. Staff was pleasant and accommodating as well.
