This was the WORST hotel you could ever stay at. If it had 2Stars it would be too much. Everywhere was filthy. Carpets thread-bear, cleaner visited when she felt like!, hand towels for shower, flies in the breakfast room. Crumbs on tables in the breakfast room but they still set out a place mat around them and on top of them. The lift broke with us in it for over an hour so no idea if it is ever serviced. The staff were the most uncaring staff with a terrible attitude. We actually found human excrement on one of the chairs in the so-called Lounge Bar that was closed all week until a huge party arrived for the coming holiday there and then they opened it for them. The pool was disgusting. Broken and filthy sunbeds that had never even been washed down. Pool Bar completely closed until the big party arrived 5 days later into our stay and even then it's like no other pool bar I've visited! Hardly any drinks and a guy just calling behind it if someone needed something. Ball games everywhere. Grubby hand towels for use on the beds. See picture of shower to use before/after using the pool! Bedroom windows hadn't been cleaned in an age. Key card forever breaking and having to run down 5 flights of stairs to have it re-computerised (after lift breaking, would not use it again). Warm food only in the restaurant such as warm scrambled egg. Tinned pineapple and a few rotten apples in a bowl to suffice as fresh fruit. It was completely astounding that any Management could run a hotel like this and still charge! Fawlty Towers seemed like a 5*. Trying to get some money back at the time of writing. If that's not bad enough, they call it the Carlton - making you think it is part of the Carlton Group. We did read some bad reviews before we stayed but a friend of ours who lives close to it assured us that it was lovely. Hence how we ever booked this dump in the first place. Stay away for your health's sake! Elderly or infirm stay away because at night it is pitch dark. Fire Alarms going off constantly and never an explanation - could be a fire? could be a bomb? who knows. Even the phone in the bedroom (stuck with dirt into the phone) did not work for the first 5 days although reported. Everything that should have been right with a hotel could never have been more wrong!

Hotel was filthy and falling apart most staff unhelpful and extremely unfriendly
First room I refused to unpack as it smelt horrendously
I was moved to a superior room which wasn't much better but less smelly
Stairs and landing poorly lit and smell of cat urine.
Used stairs as lift broke down whilst I was in it for 45 minutes before being rescued
Breakfast dining area was unclean and flies hovered over uncovered bread
Israel famed for its Breakfasts were let down at this establishment!!!
Human excrement on settee in Hotel Bar which was closed for 5 of the 7 days I stayed
Pool area.... unclean. Sun beds filthy & PoolBar closed as it was in disrepair
Music blared and towels shabby and stained
You'd be better staying at home than in this so called Hotel

I'll start with the good points:
Very good location, in the center and walking distance to the beach and Staff were nice
All other items must be changed
Hotel is not maintained at all
The room was large but looked very old
The bathroom was clean but looked terrible
Pool was nice
Bottom line - this is very poor hotel with a huge potential

Very old hotel, very badly maintained.
The room was dirty (sand all over) with bugs running around. The worst bed ever, we didn't sleep all night.
Breakfast is served in a very crowded and dirty room, the food was terrible!!!! Very little variety and every thing was dry and disgusting!!
We'd be better of sleeping in a tent at the beach.
For your own good, stay away!

Stayed here as visiting family. Very good location in center of town 5 mins walk to train station. 10 min walk to beach. Room was clean very comfortable bed. Small bathroom. Had an outside pool. Breakfast good. Staff helpful and friendly.
