Worth every penny and more!!!

I have stayed here twice, whilst on business trips, and was pleasantly surprised. £30 a night, for a nicely furnished en-suite room with breakfast included. The breakfasts are freshly cooked, and delicious. The rooms are spotless, and its a stones throw away from local attractions. I was very sad to hear it had closed down recently!
A SAD FAREWELL

My wife and I have stayed a number of times at Carlton Lodge 2013 - 2015 but we had no idea that our last visit was literally to be our LAST VISIT. We have never had anything other than top class service, accommodation and food from the lovely Christine and her staff.. We are both absolutely gutted that our home from home will close its' doors to the final guest at the end of the week. We both wish you every success and happiness in whatever your next venture is Christine. If anyone does take over The Carlton they will have a virtually impossible task of following your example.. Best wishes Mike and Gayle from North Wales

My wife and I had November breaks in '13 and '14. Sadly, it seems our feedback comes too late and for that we are sorry. Christine is an excellent host and cooks one of the best English breakfasts I have tasted. We wish you all the best Christine in whatever you turn your talents towards. Keith & Dallas Shipman. Nottingham.
We shoud have stayed before , but too late !!!

As a self confessed hotel snob I was a bit concerned about staying at Carlton Lodge.
BUT! read on . Unfortunately the info further on makes this review pointless , but I had to write it - mainly to let Christine read it.
Southport was very busy because of the firework competition and hotels that were available had inflated their prices for the event. I had not stayed at a B&B for many years (Ever since I was a kid) but you know what! it was really comfortable , a very large room with a bay window , smallish shower and toilet room en suite, nice cutains etc. comfortable beds (Our room had a double and a single bed).
The breakfast was equal to any that I have eaten in any hotel in the world, cooked to order , top quality produce. We would have stayed there on many occasions in the future but unfortunately Christine , the owner- announced that the second week in October will be her last trading week as she is closing down and returning to her southern roots of Salisbury.
Rising costs and commissions to . com booking agencies have made it unprofitable.
It is a shame that we won't be seeing you again Christine , you are a lovely lady.
We wish you every success in your new role ( whatever you decide to do ).
Excellent customer service.

Our stay at Carlton Lodge Southport was very good. Excellent customer service and all breakfast was well presented and delivered to a good standard. All rooms was well maintained. Southport is an excellent holiday resort and is exceedingly good for promoting a sense of well being.
