My husband & I have stayed at Carmel River Inn many times and have always stayed in a specific cottage that is nicely updated with tile floor & a large tub for two in the bathroom. Since usual cottage was reserved for mother-daughter getaway trip, we stayed in Cottage #17. Quite disappointing:( Same price, but VERY small with totally dilapidated bathroom flooring; it's badly in need of an update!

Nice people and good service. It is a good location close to Carmel. The low rating comes from two items. 1, The cottage is tilting on its foundation, the bathroom is cramped at best, the whole cottage is very old and falling apart. The wiring is Romex stapled to the walls, ceilings and outside...not up to any building codes. The wiring is twisted together, taped and painted. They should advise you this cottage is very rundown. 2. Getting back across on Hwy 1 is hazardous. A the main road is blocked so there is no access to a secondary exit. Otherwise a wonderful camp ground like setting.

Quick find, clean and newly built for a last minute overnighter to Carmel. Reasonably priced and great cottage for a couple or young family and close to everything! Mission Ranch very near by. We’ll be back!

We were welcomed by Nadia at the front desk. She was delightful to deal with and she offered us an upgrade which we accepted. The cottage was absolutely beautiful and it had a very comfy feel to it. Just like home. The grounds were so beautifully kept and my wife and I would have stayed longer but we had to leave for San Francisco the next day. We will definitely come back to enjoy the quietness and the serene environment.

We stayed in one of the cottages with a fireplace and a kitchen--wonderful time! They brought us more firewood every morning--and the days and nights made a fire even more special--clean, quiet, private, cozy and romantic--everything we could possibly ask for we got. We would highly recommend you check out the Carmel River Inn--truly the best kept secret in high-priced Carmel!
