At the center of it all in Carmel

We booked a 3-night stay at the Carmel Village Inn at the end of a long 10-day travel through NorCal for a family wedding. The Inn is one of the older drive up and park next to your room motor-court style hotels with very nicely updated rooms. Clean and comfortable offering an included continental breakfast. Our original room was a 2nd floor, corner unit right up against OCEAN Ave; the main artery into town. It was spacious and had a very nice view of sycamore trees and pines. It was a bit hot/stuffy (no AC in rooms) as the sun was on it up until sunset. It was also very noisy from the traffic that comes in via Ocean Ave. Plus buses and trucks. There is a more rowdy vibe in Carmel these days. More hot rods and motorcycles charging up and down Ocean and Junipero. Although I slept with earplugs, we asked for another room further away from Ocean and we were pleasantly accommodated without question. The staff is very professional and friendly. We really enjoyed our room and were at the center of Carmel and walked to restaurants, galleries, and the library for quiet time reading. The beach is also close by for sunset walks. We treated ourselves to mani/pedis and massages at the Signature Day Spa on San Carlos between 7th/8th streets. Recommended #1 spa in Carmel. The hotel provides a continental breakfast in a nice lobby area with a fireplace and views onto the street. A healthy variety of baked goods, grains, fresh fruit, coffee and hard-boiled eggs. A bit of a drawback is that there are limited guest amenities, No lounge, gym, pool or hot tub areas. But we knew that when we booked. We went to the local library for a place to hang out and read. We always love Carmel. The restaurants are all top notch. We tried Grasings, Pepes, Hogs Breath and Tommy's Wok. All good. A stroll through the galleries and Carmel Artists Association Gallery are a must. Great conversations with artists and gallery personnel for insights on local artists and histories of the area. The hotel is a very good choice. It was the best one we could book for that week so we were very satisfied with our choice and the price was within our travel budget. I think they may be expanding their breakfast area into a full-on breakfast/lunch cafe and wine bar with an open-air patio. This may be the perfect spot for you. Happy travels!
We dug this place!

New place on our map and we caught this hotel sitting on a corner very quaintly!
The look of a motel 6 (2 story of folk lore) nothing fancy for sure. No reservations, no problem in February we were able to nab a room. It was at the end of the complex and we were concerned about a busy road...no problem...
We sat on the front porch watching cars drive by. Chatting with other tenants sipping a glass of wine. You can walk easily into Village, for shopping dining! The main drag was quiet by 11:00 PM. Room was modest, comfortable and clean. We would go back for sure
Great location-good choice

The rooms are average, but the bathrooms have been remodeled since I last was here. The bed was comfortable. The room was very clean. There is no air conditioning which is only a problem when it is hot as it was when I stayed. There was no frig or coffeemaker in the room which I always like. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast with cut up fresh fruit, homemade muffins and croissants, fresh made waffles and oatmeal made this breakfast a cut above the usual continental style at many of these places. They even had real glass glasses for juice, real mugs for coffee, and cloth napkins and real eating utensils. I would come back just for the breakfast. Also...cannot beat this location. And the nightly price was reasonable for Carmel.
Basic but nice place

We needed a place to spend the night in-between trips in the area. The price is reasonable for Carmel, but what you get is pretty basic - family room was very big but old, breakfast was ok.
For us this is what we needed, it all depends what you are looking for.
Great location

This is one of the best locations if you are visiting Carmel by the Sea. You can walk to all the shops, restaurants and the beach.
The breakfast was awesome too.
The only downside was the noise and lack of air conditioning since we hit it on a very warm day.
