What People are saying

Central location for tourist sites and restaurant

Located in the city centre within walking distance of main tourist sites and restaurants. Opposite the large Corte Ingles department store.
Has restaurant, cafe, bar and rooftop pool (June-Oct0ber). Bedrooms spacious with free Wifi.

A little old, but nicely located.

Booked here as part of a tour group and it seems, the hotel survives by partnering with tour companies, as there are other tour groups from different companies booked at the same time as ours.

PLUS
- It's in the Granada city center, so it's a nice home base to explore the different parts of Granada. The Albaicin is walkable from the hotel. Lots of shops and restaurants around.
- Big rooms, comfortable beds
- Great breakfast choices

MINUS
- As mentioned, the hotel is quite old, the decor dated.
- Chaotic lobby, especially when the tour groups arrive

Great location with a stunning roof top terrace .

The Hotel Carmen has a great location with all the main places of interest easily accessible. On our arrival the reception staff were very helpful and allocated us a lovely room on the 7th floor with views out over the city. This hotel has a stunning roof top terrace with a small number of sun loungers. The hotel is used by a large number of tour groups so the buffet breakfast can be quite busy. Our room was very quiet but I did find the air con noisy.

A nice hotel

Hotel Carmen Granada (Barcelo).
Is good for groups, that's why they go.
Included dinners are set to a price,
Like paella and other dishes with rice,
But a starter of Iberian ham
Was good - I'm a big fan.
Breakfast had good, wide variety
Now standard in hotels of this quality.
Beds were comfortable - two singles,
With a gap to discourage mingles.
Rooms are not big with no tourist TV
Channels in English of acceptable quality.
Wheelchair access is via steep ramps.
Illumination good from many small lamps.

Convenient position, but everything else was found lacking

We were part of a tour group, and our bus had to drive around the block twice before it could park. The reception area was in total chaos, due to 7 tour groups arriving on the same day. .Room 304 has a view of a brick wall, and was very noisy due to other guests slamming doors late at night. The room smelt of tobacco smoke, the plug in the sink did not work, the shower drained away so slowly that there was a risk of it flooding over the tray. At breakfast we had to clear a table of dirty dishes before we could sit down. The food was average. Our tour was provided with free wine, red by the bottle, but white was rationed to half a glass per person. This is a typical hotel that would not survive without taking in tour groups, and I would certainly not stay there as an individual.
