WE were walking past this place and the menu looked interesting. My son Googled it and said "4 star, gets good reviews". It certainly lives up to that. We fortunately made a booking for Monday night, as by the time we finished our meal every seat in the place was occupied...on a Monday night!!! Not a pretentious entrance but a treasure trove once you're in.
Why? the food is so good, service nicely paced, wine excellent, what more can you ask for. We were the only foreigners there, the rest were locals and as everyone knows the Italians are experts on their own food, as this place proved. As part of our meal we had one of the local dishes, you don't see every day "Cappelletti" little tortellini in the most delicious chicken broth I've ever tasted. Excellent Gentile Apice Rosso with the meal. With dessert we had a local dessert wine (Passito de Pantelleria) which was excellent, not too sweet, simply spot on.
I really, really want to go back, pleeeease.
Never again

Great atmosphere and excellent gourmet food. It was a two man show and everything was to the T. I would go back again in a heartbeat. We had pasta, monkfish, foi gras, prosciutto and much more.
Excellent

We had the set menu and every course was superb. There was excellent seafood and pasta but the rabbit dish we had was exceptional. The dessert was inspired as well. If you are in Reggio definitely make time to eat in this excellent restaurant, we will return soon.
So good, we had to return the next night

A Mangiare was a pleasant short walk from where we were staying during our two nights in Reggio Emilia. We so enjoyed the whole experience of eating there on our first night, that we booked in for the second. The restaurant offers imaginative, exciting dishes & wonderful service. Among the memorable dishes enjoyed were cheese mousse with pear, potato ravioli with cod & an amazing ginger ice-cream with prunes. My husband rated the calamari as "excellent". A wonderful paella was enjoyed on night 2. We ate outside on the first night and inside on the second - both settings were lovely. "A Mangiare" was the best restaurant we experienced in our recent 8 day visit to Italy.
