Nice property in an odd town/city
DandMRidgefield_CTon 20/11/2017 16:09My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights on our west coast trip. The town is sort of a gateway to and from the redwoods. It is a nice, upscale inn in a weird town with lots of homeless/indigent people walking around and really no one else walking. I am not opposed to homeless people but it was particularly odd just seeing them and no one else. Kind of an eery feeling. The room was nice with a queen bed only. They only have queen beds at this inn. The bathroom was odd in that there is a window in it facing the room with some blinds separating the room itself. When you turned the light on at night it shined right into or onto the bed. Why not put more of a shade or something else there. You are given 2 welcome drinks per night to redeem at the bar and there are hors d'ouerves in the afternoon. If there is a group staying there (the first night there was) they will be devoured quickly. There is a spot to have dinner here and it is the same spot for breakfast. We opted to try a different place for dinner. The breakfast was tasty. All in all we should have stayed in this town just one night instead of two mostly because of the odd feeling of the surrounding town.
Cute Inn
ChrisnLisaon 22/10/2017 18:42We stayed one night at the B&B house across the street from the main in. Our room was on the top floor in the back of the house and was comfortable. Bed was firm and we slept like babies. Additionally, there was a washer and dryer in our house. There wasn’t an open invitation to use it, but it wasn’t clearly off limits either, so we got a weeks worth of laundry done. Lastly there is a full kitchen in the house that appears to be available if One wished to cook there own meal.
There are several dining choices within walking distance. We chose a local brew pub. Food was okay, atmosphere was fun. The stay includes breakfast at the Inn’s 301 restaurant. This was very good. The best breakfast so far of our two week west coast adventure.
Overall we were happy with our visit.
Nice but....
Jocelyn Kon 17/10/2017 05:09To start with the positive....this place had the best shower and towels. The shower had tremendous water pressure with lots of hot water. There were bath towels and bath sheets, all very soft and fluffy. The room had high ceilings, crown molding, and was very light and airy. The queen size bed was very comfortable. A hot, to order breakfast was included, with pastries, fresh juice and fruit. Originally I thought we were booked into the Victorian house, but ended up across the street in a newer building. That was okay. We were given a complimentary glass of wine or first night, and a certificate for $25 off dinner in their restaurant. Additionally, they put out cookies and tea at 8:00 pm. The room had great amenities...lotion, shampoo, body wash, shower cap, make up remover etc. But, they weren't replaced after our first day. There were glasses that weren't replaced either. Our room was very warm, after I turned the thermostat down to 60, and with a ceiling fan going. When I told the desk about it, they said it was because the rooms next to us like it warm. They opened the windows (which had to be propped up with a wooden block), and bright in an additional fan. That cooled the room, but brought in bugs. The other issue I had was that the room was noisy from street noise and our neighboring room. I suggest you ask for a ton not next to the street or above the bar.
Awesome experience.....
CypressRidgeon 08/10/2017 01:46The Hotel Carter was a respite from camping in the Trinity Alps for my husband and another couple. The four of us are extremely impressed with this establishment - the staff bends over backwards to ensure an outstanding experience. The rooms are nice - with fluffy bathrobes. And the room rate includes a terrific breakfast, including made-to-order items; tea and cookies in the evening by the fire, hors d'houvres at 4 p.m. and a Keurig in your room. When we wanted to play cards in the evening, and the room we had used was booked, we were sent across the street to their Inn! Great value.
We were in room 30 on the first floor. I think I would ask for an upper floor next time, and a room not fronting close to the Chevron station behind the hotel, where semis ideled in the early morning. Other than that, this place is great......
Great stay, wonderful hotel
Vince Son 07/10/2017 20:58This place is top notch. The staff is very professional, the rooms are beautiful, and the food delicious.
The room was clean and large and the bed was comfortable.
Each night of our stay we got a glass of wine. They also offered tea and cookies each evening. Breakfast was included and was really good. Most of the baked good were made on site.
The hotel is quiet. They have parking in the back that has an electric car charger.
They are located right on the edge of the historic district which has some great old Victorian buildings and the area is well maintained. The only negative are the tons of homeless drug addicts that wander the streets.
