Servicio deficiente. No incluye desayuno, los cuartos parecen hornos, muy poca ventilación. Baños sucios. Mala atención. No desperdicies tu dinero, hay muchas mejores opciones por ese costo.
Poor service. Breakfast not included, rooms look like ovens, very little ventilation. Dirty bathrooms. Bad attention. Do not waste your money, there are many better options for that cost.
Do not stay here

This place only has one good thing: the lake in the backyard, but that is not a rare sight in this city with a 60 km. long 'laguna'.
It is really BAD value for the money since it is expensive considering the following:
1) the rooms are hot and have no air condition.
2) there is not a lot of privacy. We had a room next to the kitchen (which you are NOT allowed to use and it is not possible to by food at the hotel) and the outside noises were loud and our curtains nearly transparent.
3) bad location far away from the city. The nearest restaurant - and your only way to get something to eat nearby (you even have to take a taxi to go to a 'mercado') - is expensive and not interesting enough for more that 2 visits.
4) the staff is not very service-minded and you have to ask them over and over again to get some useful information.
We even left the day before we should even though we (of course) lost money on it.
Average and far from town

I stayed for two nights at casa corazón. The hotel was clean enough, no a/c, reception mediocre. Since I booked this hotel expecting 3 star quality I was a bit disappointed for the price; however it was not a bad hotel in general. It's a bit far from the plaza center, making taxi use necessary and you usually have to call or have the reception call for a taxi as they are not always passing by (cost per trip ranged between $25-$40 mxp/$1.5-$2.25 us). There was a nice lagoon deck with hammocks and if you were staying with family or friends this may be a better choice, but kind of isolated for the solo traveler. Also there was no food/dining access at this hotel, thus increasing the need for taxis. There is a little restaurant beach club a short walk away but they have a min purchase of $250mxp to eat there. There are nice lagoon decks near the plaza center and a nice looking hostel with a restaurant below-which may be a better choice if you're solo.
Bad Hostel, definitely NOT a hotel at all

This place cannot be called a hotel. It is more like a very low budget hostel for backpackers, who are so tired and excited about the adventure, that they can't even pay attention to the stained and patched up sheets. And the smell in the rooms was awful, we requested a change of room and they were all the same, smelly and humid. There is no furniture, it is all cement, even the bed. We only booked there because a cousin recommended it, but as soon as we got there, we wanted to run far away from there! We immediately booked another place, because this was awful... It was very expensive giving the fact that it is a hostel-like accommodation. Definitely NOT worth the price it's being asked for.... Very very unpleasant experience!
Simple but pleasant

This is an older structure, but it was clean. The whole place is very simple... no frills for sure, but it is a fine place to stay if you don't care about all of the extras. The dock and palapas on the river are really lovely though! It was a perfect place to just relax. My two young daughters had a blast swimming. The owner was very sweet and loved talking about Bacalar.
