We planned a family trip to Cartagena for may of 2017. 12 of us 9 adults, 3 children were planning in staying in a resort then we decided to take a shot with a local home.
Went here and other websites and found Casa Maria. I was very reserved about doing this but we did it.
Pictures of this house do absolutely no justice. The rooms were all amazing with amazing beds and roomy bathrooms and modern tvs and air conditioners.
The house comes with an amazing 24hr butler named Alfredo which will help you with any need or advice that you may need (in Spanish). It also employees two cooks/maids that will clean the rooms and make you daily breakfasts that will completely spoil you. For a very small fee they will also cook lunch and dinner.
The location of the house is also spectacular next to one of the many plazas and surrounded by some of the best restaurants and lounges in town but not next to any of the loud clubs that blast music.
Two cons with the house all the doors have beautiful decorative door handles that scratched and bruised many of us.
The house comes with free internet which is nice. However it goes up and down all day which can be a problem if you have to telecommute while staying there.
Tip: the tv is all in Spanish and the internet is not up long enough to stream shows. They have modern tvs that can play USB media. So if your like me that needs some tv while in bed, load up some thumb drives

Met every expectation! great rooftop view over much of San Diego, relaxing pool, nice staff, no keys necessary, very safe, close to bars and cafes, a/c rooms with ensuites, ideal for family/group trips compared w just a couples retreat...

Hey there! I just came back from Colombia and had the chance again to stay for a few days in Casa Maria. I wish I could simply purchase that amazing property. Usually, I rent the whole place as I am "selfish" like that! No, seriously, the butler (Alfredo), the cook (Mrs. Margarita) and the maid (Ms. Piedad) are always there to help. They are super duper friendly. Hannia, the Manager, will quickly help me make arrangements for this property and I don't have to worry too much as she makes everything happen for me. It is just as if I am right there.
In terms of the property itself: all rooms are very clean!
There is this big window in the facade and I sit there just to people watch while Alfredo brings a good Rum Medellin with Coca Cola and Lime. The dining room is big and comfy.
Then there is the swimming pool which is safe for babies and very clean.
There are several levels. There one level for the Grill, Alfredo did the Grill last time: great steak and drinks we had prior to hit Havana Club later that night.
On the top level you can overlook Cartagena a bit...great place for when you come back after the party and want to chit chat with your girl.
Absolutely recommended! I probably should not be giving away all these comments...then when I want to rent it again, it will be most likely already rented! Grrrr :D

Selfishly rented the whole place for me and my guests. It was a clean home with positive inspiring energy specially on the rooftop! I would even plan on a getaway just with my partner and rent it all again: the different rooms and the grill area...plus the swimming pool. You can play and just relax!
Sitting at the front window on the cushion is a pleasure!

We rented this house for 11 people and 1 baby. From the moment we walked through the door we were stunned by the beauty of this place and its incredibly warm and helpful staff. We felt right at home - the common areas are perfect for a relaxed, social atmosphere, and the bedrooms offer privacy without being too isolated. The house is in an excellent location with plenty of restaurants and nightlife within a few minutes' walk. We loved our stay!
