Hotel or Venue?
Rosalie Oon 12/09/2017 22:00The hotel is lovely, very historic. Our room was adequate, the bathrooms very small. The staff were all very nice. The hotel is about 6 blocks walking to the Cathedral etc.
We only had two days in Guadalajara. The first day we left the hotel to enjoy some sites, upon our return abt 4pm. the courtyard was filled with people. We were told it was a special event for the local teachers. If we wanted to eat we would have to sit at one of the tables off to the side. The second day upon coming down for breakfast, the staff was busy moving tables etc. We were told there was going to be a wedding in the afternoon and then a reception. We were unable to sleep until the party was over because of the noise.
We were never able to enjoy the courtyard or hotel as guests ourselves. We felt that we were in the way.
If we come back to Guadalajara, we will choose a different hotel.

A true Jalisco charmer
Tony Con 18/05/2017 19:28Another wow moment this morning. First a thank you to Miguel Angel Minos. What a warm welcome!! A true ambassador of this hotel. He takes such pride in his work. Thinking we would just take a quick peek from outside, we were brought in to enjoy this beautiful treasure in the heart of Guadalajara.
Each room is designed with love. This hotel has that special something that you will never get in a modern hotel.
From the moment we stepped in we were treated with true hospitality as if we were family. This is a place where the genuine care and comfort of the guest is their highest priority. They provide the finest personal service and facility of the old world classic.
At the end of our tour we got to meet the owner Diana Bon. You can see the passion in pride not only in the way she speaks but in her eyes is well. She is genuine and from the heart. We look forward to our next trip to stay in the secret garden room. It is a must see for everyone. If you like old work charm and sophistication look no farther. The breath taking views of 12 cathedrals from the roof is breath taking. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!
Unexpected surprise in the heart of town
ewebberon 28/03/2017 22:08We booked a last-minute trip to Guadalajara, a city about which we knew very little. Most of the better hotel options seem to be in the Zapopan neighborhood, more of a business and shopping district. There are a few options in the Centro Historico, but Casa Pedro Lopez stood out because of its small size (only eight rooms), history and potential charm. We weren't disappointed in the choice. The public areas of the hotel are well appointed and definitely charming - a beautiful combination of modern touches in a building built in 1848 as the home of the Archbishop of Guadaljara.
The rooms are mostly on the second floor around an atrium. That makes it beautiful, but it also means sound carries from the lobby and restaurant up through the rest of the hotel. We didn't find this a problem, but it could be if there was, say, a large event downstairs.
The rooms aren't big, but spacious enough to move around and store your stuff. Very high ceilings made it seem bigger. Ours had large doors that opened onto a small balcony overlooking the street. Noise from the street wasn't a problem, although you definitely hear the city come alive in the morning. The bathroom was tiny - not room for both of us at the same time. Again, not a big deal to us, but some people like more space.
There is a fantastic rooftop terrace that nobody seemed to use. We took drinks up there a few times. It's an especially nice place to watch the sunset. There's a small bar and restaurant (Bons) on the first floor. Breakfast was included in the room price. It was the same thing each day, but was fresh and delicious.
The location was perfect for us. A short walk to all of the important sites in the Centro Historico. Lots of restaurants of all kinds nearby. You're a short (and cheap) Uber ride from the Zona Minerva, home to many of the city's top restaurants and nightlife.
We couldn't have been more impressed with the service. Friendly, casual and familiar - more like we were old friends than first-time guests. Everyone, and I mean every staff member we encountered, was friendly and helpful. You get the feeling they appreciate you being there.
Finally, it was an incredible bargain. We booked a flight/hotel combo through Travelocity and couldn't believe the deal on the room. We would have paid more without much complaint.
