I just returned from this beautiful hotel. It is the perfect escape for a romantic getaway in the heart of such a vibrant city. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the hotel room was amazing. We stayed in the suite and at night had private access to the jacuzzi. The views from the rooftop are wonderful. I cannot wait to go back.

I booked this hotel at a time when an airline strike at Avianca escalated. Due to the uncertainty, I was forced to cancel the flight and, naturally, also had to cancel the hotel reservation. Despite four attempts by Expedia to return the funds to me, this hotel refuses to reimburse me. Keep in mind that I contacted them two weeks in advance of my booking so they had plenty of time to rent the room if they wanted to. I would never give this hotel my business again and would recommend anybody to be careful when paying in advance.

I will never forget my stay at Casa Pestagua. Everything was perfect. I fell in love with the hotel and it's history- I even found a book about its renovation on Amazon! The antique furniture was charming and the staff was so attentive. They helped us arrange a bike tour with an awesome guide who took us all over the walled city and taught us its history. They also helped me arrange dinner reservations at night, a salsa dancing class, and our side trip up to tyrona national park. The breakfast was delicious. I can say enough good about this place. I felt like I had stepped back in time and it was magical! When we arrived they had drinks for us and the room had music playing as we stepped inside! Stay here you won't regret it!

If I can come back from Australia I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in this magical place :)

I stayed here with my best-friend to celebrate our 50 th birthdays. I choose it because
my bucket list included to stay at a Relais Chateaux hotel. The property is so pretty. The suites and antiques charming. I felt like i was in an old world telenovela.
The rooms were expansive , comfortable and tastefully done in authentic colonial period furnishings and decor.
The breakfast was excellent everyday. They can make whatever your heart desires.
I did not eat at the restaurant , Amadeus, i felt since i ate breakfast the five days, there I wanted to try out other places.
The real GEM of this place is the wait staff / porters. Without them, Casa Pestagua is just a pretty place void of life and energy. Omar Santiago, Miguel Porto, Alejandro, Orlando , Carlos .My favorite response, from the guys was "if we don't have it , we will get it".
Case in point, I am an avid futbol fan. On my Saturday stay, it was raining. Usually I call it Soccer Saturday. Initially they didn't have any sports channels. When I inquired,
the about it I had access to every single league on the Planet !!! I don't even have that back in USA. It was insane !!! I sip fresh mint juice ( cartegena specialty ) and enjoyed my matches .
Jennifer was very helpful , she answered all my emails in a timely manner , and there were plenty of them. Arranged things I requested ahead of time, as well as
airport transport.
Please note, Relais Chateaux status does automatically imply Five Star.
What makes a place Five star is perfection. And what separates
very good from excellent from Superior is all in the details. There were a few
things I noted , that detracted from absolute excellence , I discussed them with Monica the manager , and don't feel the need to divulge. She said she'd work on it.
Lastly, the hotel is situated on a very popular busy street its a plus but also a minus. At night the "security" closes street access, leaving it difficult for the taxi cab drivers to access. Usually the cab driver has to butter the guards roll ( if you get my drift) to allow
entrance. My friend as mobility issues, walks with use of walking poles, so thankfully,
they let us through every night returning from dinner. Keep this in mind if elderly traveling, or having to push stroller, or hauling your luggage from the airport.
Restaurants I highly recommend is 1621, Alma --Both are considered High end dining for dinner. Cande Cartegena is also very good for lunch.

Also ask Jennifer to arrange the day trip to ISla del Encanto. its one of the Rosario private islands, Beautiful private beach, one hour boat ride, excellent lunch and three pools if prefer. Avoid Baru --public beach.
