We just enjoyed another fabulous stay at Casa Susegad. The hosts and staff couldn’t be friendlier or more accommodating. The food is delicious and atmosphere calm and relaxing. I can’t say enough good things! Can only recommend that you don’t miss this gem!

this isn't a review of our visit we did that on our return in November but has such a fantastic time have booked to return this October. Arriving middle of the night flight but with arrange for ramada from Casa Susegad to collect us a smiling face waiting for you at the airport with an air con car.We used ramada for our trips and were very happy with his services, looking forward to Juanito s meals and the variety she offers in the range of food. it will be another relaxing time for me at the pool and sampling the local beers and wines whilst barbara will no doubt be once again asking Sara to visit for a massage or two. All the staff and very good and looking forward to seeing them all this is more than a holiday it is an experience
Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time, when time stood still and a wake up call was the bread man with his cycle bell and "poi...poi...poi", the dogs waking up the owner and greeting the bread man with a wagging tail......once upon a time when the water falling gently over a makeshift pond would remind you of the village stream, a frog occasionally reminding its time for the rains to come......once upon a time when the sun would rise and kiss your face and wake you up.........one upon a time.
And yes, I am not dreaming, and no, its not a page from a fairy tale.
Set in a quiet little village of South Goa, Loutolim, Norman & Carole have managed to create a perfect getaway, for those who would love a bit of peace, tranquility and as they say elegant idleness.
A home stay which is now more than a decade old, 5 beautiful hand crafted rooms, rich colour combinations to make it vibrant, a well managed pool that is very private, a well stocked bar, excellent food options and a great team of support staff will make you want for more. We stayed in the Sunshine room which had its own little sit out and terrace making it very special. the bathrooms reminded me of old houses in India, a fan in the bathroom was the best one could expect. The Sunshine room does not have AC, and even in the middle of summer in May, we were comfortable with high ceilings and 3 fans it worked perfect. The dining room was grand, the seating and tv room was very well though and created, and the billiards room was just what you would want to watch someone play and sit on the window balcony and sip away a margarita. Housekeeping is very good, towels are changed every day, there are separate towels for the pool and in room use. the bar is very rich in ambience, well stocked with options that will be perfect in a getaway like this.
A garden, massage room, yoga floor under the tree, plenty of sit outs and great company from the 5 dogs who are very well behaved and part of the family, this was as refreshing and rejuvenating as it could be.
Norman & Carole have created the perfect getaway and in my several years of travel across the world, they are one of the best hosts and people I have met.
If you love nature, company, conversation, good food and above all if you want to simply idle away, Casa Susegad is the place to be.
Thank you Norman & Carole.....we will be back.
Almost Idyllic.......But Not Quite.

If the system allowed I would give 4.5 stars. I would have given Casa Susegad 5 stars had we not visited a similar and better place just before.
Casa Susegad is almost idyllic but the are a few things that need fixed or upgraded to rate 5; I will come to those later.
On the whole we enjoyed our time at Casa Susegad. The food has been mostly terrific. The company has been very pleasant. The room has been comfortable. The garden around the courtyard is attractive. The massage was professional. The pool has been cool. The wildlife have been chirpy/hooty/buzzy. The service has been swift, friendly and efficient. The hosts helpful and chatty. The weather has been bordering on too good; there were times a cloud would have been welcomed. The experience has been relaxing.
But in no particular order:
The tranquil quiet has been too often interrupted by barking; some from the five dogs and more often from the staff. The sunbeds and shades cannot be moved so that one cannot make a decision about sun or shade as required .....if all the beds are in use. The sheets on the sunbeds have not been replaced as often as they could have been. Being a small place the bar has not been well stocked, so prepare to try some unknowns. The dinning table, while grand, is indoors and so large that people are just too far apart to chat to easily. There is one noisy old fan that gets circulated between guest outdoor spaces. Breakfast has been pleasant siting outside room but the options are limited for toast you might get warm dry bread.
I recommend Casa Susegad as a relaxing place to stay in Goa if you don't want to be close to the beach or the crowds.
Exotic home from home

We loved it and will be back!
Carole and Norman have a very special place. We loved being by the pool with the jungle birds, butterflies and sometimes monkeys - our books stayed in the suitcase, there was always something to watch. But there is lots of low key stuff to do - a walk around the village (including a haircut, cut throat shave and a head massage on one occasion), a trip to Panjim to buy silk, Anjuna market on a Wednesday, the village market on Saturday, and beach walking followed by sunset cocktails are all easy with a very affordable Ramdas or Dominic and their AC cars. Agenda, Palolem and Patnem beaches we loved, and are about an hour away.
But the real stars are the Casa, the staff and Carole and Norman. It's wrong to single out staff, they are clearly a real team and are well led. But ok - Juanita is a very talented cook, Sarla's massages are skilled and she does beauty stuff as well, and Felicidad we would have put in our suitcase and brought her home. But thank you all!!!
Things to be ready for? Probably three? First, this is best experienced living en famille and we ate phenomenal food round the big dining room table most nights (though a candlelit table a deux is readily offered). So it's pretty sociable which we loved, and you'd miss a lot not to join in, but be prepared to meet people! Secondly there are lovely cats and dogs and for us it was a bonus, and I can quite see that even if you aren't an animal lover you could fall in love with Kitkat, Patchouli, Basil and Lisa. But if animals are a total no-no then this isn't for you. And finally, you're in rural India surrounded by wildlife. Little frogs in the bathroom (leave them alone, they won't bother you!), the odd tiny lizard in the grounds and some moths one night are about it and it's all part of the experience.
We've a taste for amazing India now and we'll be back. If there's a spare room. Book early to avoid disappointment.
