Descent

We stayed at Casa Villa Colonial for three nights. We had room 10 when is on the second floor with a door that opens to the courtyard. It was a descent place for what you pay.
The service is definitely a plus. The girl who runs the front desk speaks pretty good English and was very friendly and helpful in regards to information about the town. They sell beverages such as water and beer, and the prices are reasonable.
The room was nice and comfortable. There is no hot water, but given the weather, this was not such a big deal. The AC is definitely a plus.
The one issue we had and why I don't give this hotel 5 stars is the noise. Our room in particular was directly underneath the rooftop kitchen that serves breakfast every morning. So at 6:00am sharp, the sound of blenders and moving furniture were the norm and we did not get much sleep thereafter.
We tried the breakfast one morning, which was OK.
Overall a good value and only about a 15 minute walk to the walled city.
Some rooms are better than others

We had a nice stay at Casa Villa colonial. The staff was really friendly and welcoming.
We stayed there twice so we had the chance to experience two different rooms. The first room only had a window that opened to the hallway. So it didn't have much natural light. This caused the room to smell a little bit damp.
I would recommend to ask for a room that has a window that opens up to the patio. That was the second room we had and that was nicer.
Breakfast is ok, but not really something to look forward to.
Keep in mind that the climate in Cartagena is hot and humid - you'll have to be ok with an airco.
The rooms were clean, the WIFI can't take more than two or three connections at once.
Calm spot in a busy neighborhood

We like our stay at this hotel. Very calm in comparison to the other accommodation nearby, which we appreciated. The rooms are okay, although a little expensive in Colombian standards (But Cartagena is more expensive in general). The best part is the staff! They are all very nice and so helpful.
Very nice staying

I stayed 4 days at Casa Villa Colonial and it was awesome ! The room is very comfortable and very clean. The staff is so nice, helpful and so kind. They helped me well to organise some activities. The breakfast is quite good. This hotel is very close to the old city (5 minutes) and the area around is very safe. I'm very satisfied with this place. Very great product !
I would say the only disturbing thing is the wifi, which they don't work well in the room.
Good hotel but...

This hotel has 3-4 properties very close to each other (the location is good as it's a 10 minute brisk walk from the old city centre).
However, be careful of the apartment-type flats they have and are also given out. If you're sharing a room with someone (as I did), then you are in for some comedy (they give out only one key to the room and the entrance of the building) and the reception is in another location. So if you don't have the key you cannot enter the building and till you don't enter the building you don't know if your room-mate is in or not and you'll make a couple of trips back and forth between the reception, the apartment-block and a third hotel which also has an extra set of keys (which they won't give to you). So don't share a room here....And the staff will not be very helpful in the matter
The main hotel is pretty charming with a nice rooftop pool and place to lounge around. The breakfast is a bit sparse.
