SoBayrockson 17/05/2017 00:20The hotel was like a medieval estate, but much cleaner! The staff were pleasant and polite. The surroundings were enchanting.The beds were comfortable, and we had several pillows. Breakfast wasn't spectacular, but the coffee was good. If you want to see the area, the place is very authentic to the place.
Insincere service and poor quality. Mercenary disposition.
drl240on 17/08/2016 13:23This is a two star property at best. Although the surrounding area is spectacular this hotel offers little service and no facilities. Booked 3 rooms for two nights and had to argue for an extra pillow! No wine in the "bar!" Left after 1 night and was still charged for supplementary beds for the unused night. Horrible breakfast. The best part of the visit was leaving a day early.

drlspainon 13/08/2016 10:15Clinical operation (only interested in your money and room key) with shabby towels, horrible pillows (if you can get one!) and no air conditioning. Cash services only. Bar has no wine! Worthless breakfast. The best part was leaving a day early and still paying a supplement!
Overpriced
2onholidayon 07/10/2015 17:01Difficult to find. Much better information required.Rooms adequate but towels poor. Breakfast very ordinary. No fresh fruit. Coffee could have been a lot better. Staff friendly but only speak spanish. No restaurant so you have to drive elsewhere for a meal which is not ideal if you've just driven 250 miles to get there.Cheaper and better hotels in the area.
Not very welcoming and overpriced

The lady at the front desk was so busy organising her paper work that, although she had seen us, she didn't give us any attention until she was finished with her work. Then we had a big fuss about the prepayment that apparently hadn't gone through. Well...we were there weren't we, so no need for guarantee payments anymore....o no, we were supposed to pay first, before we were shown to our room. An unwelcoming arrival.
The rooms are standard and classic as may be expected in a historical building. There must be a difference in roomsize because I really can't relate to the reviews saying they had enough space with 4 in a room, we were 3 and it was cramped. Bathroom in need of an upgrade. Location so/so. Not in Santillana del Mar but in Vispieres around 2.5 kms from downtown Santillana. We knew this beforehand but the complex being next to a modern housing estate was a disappointment.
Breakfast is really very very basic. Cereal comes in its big carton box, sealed with a clothes pin (nót 4 star!), no cold milk (you have to ask), served toast at bare minimum (4 fairly small pieces for 3 people), the juices are not fresh in contrary to what they state in their own folder and so on. We really felt it was not worth the money...shame....
