Motel in San Francisco

We used this motel style hotel as base for exploration of San Francisco. It's very simple, but well located and with all basic amenities. Breakfast is limited continental (coffee, juice, apples, yoghurt, pastry) which you take from reception to consume at your room. In room you have refrigerator. But room walls are not sound proof at all.
Lovely hotel

My husband and I stayed here for a week as part of our USA honeymoon. I have to say it was a lovely place to stay and so glad we chose it.
We arrived late but the gentleman on reception was there and quite welcoming. He gave us a lot of information about the area and how to get around and provided us with a map and highlighted some areas to see and some areas to avoid. The map also had all the transportation links on it, we carried it around for the whole week, was so useful.
The rooms were big and clean, fridge, microwave and coffee machine come in really handy. The bathrooms were clean and seemed newish.
The maid came in and cleaned every day no matter how late we left the room for the day, when we came back the room had always been made up and the bathroom cleaned.
The hotel has free parking which is invaluable in San Francisco, and the location is perfect. Walking distance from a walgreens and from all the transport links. On paper it's walking distance to the wharf and China town. However obviously due to all the steep hills in San Francisco, it was much easier to get a bus/tram. We purchased a 7 day travel card from walgreens at the cost of $40 (another piece of info given to us by the gentleman at check in) which allowed us to use all the buses and trams as many times as we wished.
Air conditioning in the room worked great, a little noisy but that seems normal for most hotels in the USA.
The only thing I would say is that the walls are quite thin, we had 1 night where we had a very noisy family staying either side of our room which woke us up throughout the night but that's obviously not the fault of the hotel.
Overall this was a great place to stay and would definitely recommend it.
Good location, good stay

Our room had been updated in the past year or two. The bed was soft but supportive, which made it comfortable. We appreciated having a fridge and microwave. We cooled it down with the a/c sometimes too. Location was great. Walkable to Chinatown and fisherman’s wharf. Uber was less than $5 to fisherman’s wharf between 9 am and 4 pm. When I asked about breakfast at check in, he told me it was continental with donuts and coffee. That made my expectations low, but there were enough choices. There was yogurt, granola bars, packaged pastries, oatmeal, fruit, juice, hot chocolate, and coffee. There’s also a Walgreens nearby with a lot of grocery choices, so we got some cold cereal there for the kids. Free parking was also nice.

After comparing reviews for Castle Inn with other cheaper hotels in SF, I am glad I chose to stay here for our two nights in SF. Hotel was not as close to Union Square as first thought however a short Uber ride got us there. We were greated by a very helpful member of staff who advised us on where to go and where not to go and routes to sightseeing spots. Our room was on the top floor, we were pleased upon entering as the bedroom area was big and the king sized bed we requested was huge and very comfortable, the bathroom area suggested the room had been updated as it looked very new and very clean. Highly recommend staying here and I would definitely stay here again.

My sister and I stayed here when we were on vacation in San Francisco for 3 days. The manager (or owner) was extremely helpful. The room was updated and very clean. Plenty of cable tv channels. It was great being able to come back to a clean and comfortable room after 12 hrs of sight seeing each day. The continental breakfast was nice. Different packaged breakfast bars, yogurt, fresh fruit, and coffee. Overall A+ and affordable. It's also in a safe neighborhood and about an 18 min walk to Fishersman's Wharf. And right by Polk Street, which has plenty of highly rated cafes and restaurtants. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting San Fran.
