This is no way to run a business. The management and staff at this hotel are, simply put, inept. The rooms are outdated and poorly maintained. Bathroom is small. Carpets are worn. Bedspreads are not clean. This hotel has a lock on a convenient campus location, but it is not worth the price nor the aggravation. There are a number of other, equally well located and comparably priced hotels (e.g., Graduate Charlottesville). As it was late in the day when we bailed, we went just a mile north to a La Quinta. That hotel had clean, well maintained rooms, was quiet, and had pleasant staff.

I would give this hotel a 3.5 star rating. Not bad for the price. Beds are not that comfortable but the bedding is nice and the furniture has been updated. Location was good. Average or a little better but right for the price. Staff was friendly. Hot breakfast included.

Great location just off campus that allows you to walk to campus and the Rotunda...Also, they have the best muffins I have ever had at a hotel for breakfast....decent rooms, very comfortable. I love that you can see the band practice and students playing soccer in the field across the street

The staff of the Cavalier Inn were friendly and helpful. I appreciated the proximity to UVA. It was less than a 10 minute walk to the Rotunda and about a 15 minute walk to the shops and restaurants on Main Street. Unfortunately, the facilities are a little tired. Everything in the room looked and felt like it would benefit from an update. I especially noticed the need to update the heater in the room as the temperature had dropped.

The staff was friendly and professional. The accommodations were reasonably priced and I was very happy with the cleanliness of the room. Parking was hit or miss. The "Pub" was advertised as a place to eat but it contained a bar like setting with a hotdog display with buns and pretzels. There is no menu or food to order so that was disappointing. Our room came with a free breakfast. It is convenient and economical. Nice Find.
