Special occasion - birthday surprise
Leese321on 21/11/2017 01:14Very disappointing. Basic room, no view as window was misted. On the day -Complained to reception staff whom said they would pass this information on to the Manager but no response to this whilst on the stay.
2 letters of complaints have been written to the Celtic Manor but no response to these letters either.
Amazing place
ms21cgon 20/11/2017 22:19I stayed here the night for a work event. There was a super comfy bed, fantastic buffet breakfast and a luxury bathroom. I was just sad to not have the time to use the spa facilities. Will definitely return one day for a leisurely weekend.
It serves a purpose
JMAK1964on 20/11/2017 20:45Newport doesn’t have many decent hotel options so it’s easy to stay at Celtic Manor. The rate including breakfast was quite reasonable and breakfast was good. My bedroom was enormous and comfortable. I find the eating options dull and very expensive but going anywhere else requires the hassle and expense of taxis. For a ‘resort’ that badges itself in the upmarket space, it isn’t really as too many glitches in the overall experience. However as a place to stay for a couple of days on business in Newport it is fine.
Anniversary trip
whatsforteaon 20/11/2017 20:38We stayed last night to have a well deserved night away from the children and to get some sleep! It was our wedding anniversary. We were on the 6th floor. Arrived at 1pm and our room was ready. Lovely refurbished well sized room, disappointingly no bath but a big shower. Sadly this either froze you or scolded you during your shower. It was less temperamental in the evening. Complimentary tea, coffee and one packet of biscuits!
The bed was comfortable but we had a terrible nights sleep. Noise in the corridor outside our room and really hard pillows.
We had lunch in the bar- small menu. Expensive and ok. Service was good.
We had inclusive dinner package- we ate at the Newbridge. The menu was limited and lots of supplements if on the dinner package. Soup was tasty (although needed extra seasoning) but my main course was nt to my taste, it was the pork loin and was bland, giant hash brown was greasy, the purée was a beige and tasteless. So this was eaten by my husband, who hates waste! Dessert was a very rich chocolate torte. My husband finished mine. It was a very disappointing meal. Thank goodness for the complimentary bread.
Breakfast was delicious, lucky we went down at 9am and beat the queues. They were huge when we left!
The forum spa was nice, very busy but clean. Jacuzzi in the ladies was broken. All the loungers were taken but no one was on them.
Drinks were expensive.
Parking was £15
We come here a lot but we ve decided we won’t be coming back. One night away cost a lot of money, we had an awful nights sleep and other than breakfast the food was nt very nice.

on 19/11/2017 23:39Stayed for a night in this beautiful hotel. View from our window was amazing, the bed was so comfy I didn’t want to get out!
Went for a meal in the restaurant and it must say the food was superb. First time I tried Thai green curry and I loved it. Would love to stay there again if ever I get the chance. Staff were friendly and all in all it was a lovely hotel.
