The ONLY Overwater Bungalows on Bacalar Lagoon

Awesome may not be a strong enough word. Boutique Resort has only 9 rooms. 7 Bungalows are overwater. Each with screened doors and windows, overhead fans, mosquito netting with fan inside, private deck over Lagoon for sun, and shower in bath. Located at southern, less populated end of Lagoon. Easy access from highway. Service was first rate by everyone. Slow and relaxing place and pace. Beautiful unobstructed view of Lagoon. No buildings to the right, left, or across. Water and bottom is clear and shallow here. Kayaks, paddle boards, swings and hammocks in the water and on large resort overwater palapas. Resort arranged a 2 hour Lagoon sunset tour for our group of four. Well worth it. You’ll see why this resort and location is superior to others. Most meals were excellent and reasonably priced. Fresh seafood, fruits and veggies. Steaks were a little overdone, but all else was great. Definitely will be returning.
THE BEST VACATION EVER!

This place is magical!!! I'm so glad I spent the money and booked the cabin on the lagoon. The room was amazing and the outdoor seating is great to watch the sunset. The food was on point and the spa is worth the splurge. I would come back here in a heart beat!

A stunning location to relax and soak in the beautiful colors of the lagoon, food is awesome, rooms are private and discrete and the service is top notch. This gem is own and created by a mexican local, which makes me even more happy to contribute with my stay there.
Stunning!

If you are looking for a place to unwind for a few days look no further. This has got to be one of the most tranquil places we have ever stayed at. The view of the lake and the fact your bedroom door is just 2 meters away from stepping into the warm turquoise water is something special. We rose each morning at 6.00 to see the sun rise and stayed up late at night to watch the stars in the milky way above us!
During the day we chilled on our deck by the lake but also took a boat ride around the lake (organised by the hotel) to visit some cenote and the 'pirate canal' - which we can highly recommend.
The food was very good and we ate in the hotel restaurant both nights we stayed. Being around 8 km from Bacalar we had little desire to find any where else to eat but there really was no need as the food was very good and clearly used fresh ingredients from it's own kitchen garden that you pass through on you way down the track to the hotel from the main road.
The hotel is very eco friendly and so doesn't have air conditioning or items such as coffee machines or hairdryers in the rooms. This was not a problem for us and we would go back again in a flash.
I would also be happy spending 3 nights here I don't think I would want any longer as I would start to feel I needed something more to do than just float in the warm fresh water of the Bacalar lake.....but then again!
Wonderful setting, great facilities, top quality food & lovely staff

My family and I stayed in Akalki for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. Our room had a private deck on the lagoon which was ideal for sunbathing and reading in a peaceful setting. Every single meal we had was outstanding and very nicely presented. They have a great spa onsite and offer the opportunity to rent kayaks to explore the lagoon. The staff are very welcoming and polite. The manager Rodriguez was extremely friendly and helpful, he kindly offered to take us to the emergency services to check out my brother's swollen hand after being bitten. We were all very grateful to him for that and also for being such a wonderful host in general! I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely go back!
