Friendly and modern

We chose this as an option to staying in Santander. Suances is a lovely beachside town with surf surrounded by beautiful countryside. This hotel is modern with good rooms and breakfast included. Restaurants nearby for lunch and dinner.
Very good in parts, but needs to be refurbished

This boutique hotel is situated in a quiet residential area, only a one minute walk to one of the beaches, and three minutes to a whole range of excellent restaurants. There is no restaurant in the hotel. There is free parking for five cars, and, during the three days that we were there, lots of parking was available in the street. We were warmly welcomed-in fact all of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Our room was a "premium" with outdoor jacuzzi and large terrace/balcony on the top floor. The deal included cava and chocolates, and it was clearly marketed as a "romantic" room. For a luxury room at a luxury price, we were disappointed by the worn out furniture and fittings. The room was very cramped, exaggerated by a black ceiling board over the bed, and black curtains and floors. It was like something from the 1970s. The bed was comfortable, but had a synthetic mattress cover, which was sweat inducing- not very nice at all. They had a good range of pillows to choose from. The bathroom was tiny, again with very dark decor, with no space to move or to store wash bags. The window glass was painted maroon. Both the "stylish" (but inefficient), single tap over the basin, and the shower fixture were wobbly, there was no plug in the bath, and the hairdryer ran at cold only. Everything appeared to be clean. Bath towels were small and some were threadbare. Robes were old and scruffy. Air conditioning was noisy at times.
Outside, the jacuzzi cover was split and mouldy, although the jacuzzi itself was clean. Only one of the jet controls worked. The tiled floor of the terrace was stained and needed a lick of paint. The terrace had good views over the river and offered plenty of space.
The buffet breakfast was very good- lots to choose from, and it was located in a light and airy space at the back of the hotel. The plates were replenished when needed. But, orange squash was passed off as juice and the coffee from a machine was some of the worst I have ever tasted. We therefore asked for (very good) coffee from the bar instead, and the receptionist was very obliging, as though this were a common occurrence.
The opportunity to have free use of cycles was great, as there is a lovely cycle track next to the river. These have to be reserved in advance.
I have sent all this feedback to the management in the hope that they will perhaps try being a client themselves in order to understand what needs to be improved and refurbished. This hotel has many positives and a few tweaks would, in my opinion, make it a higher rating.
Stop over for a wedding

I have read some earlier reviews about this hotel which were not good. I have just been there and although it is only 3 star it was excellent. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. There are no tea making facilities in the room but that's nothing. The buffet breakfast included everything you could think of including full English. We were there to attend a wedding at El Torco and the reception was in a local bar just 10 minutes walk from the hotel. I will be going back there again definitely.
Not as expected....

While the hotel is suitable, it is not what we expected. It is situated in a quiet, residential area near the beach and many restaurants. However, we visited off-season, and there was very little parking. I can imagine it is quite difficult to park in summer. This hotel is a sister hotel of El Muelle. We have stayed at El Muelle numerous times, before and after its renovation. However, its Playa Ribera did not compare in terms of staff hospitality, quality of the rooms, and overall treatment of the guest. Our room was very small, on a basement level and despite the presence of a cleaning crew, the room smelled of mildew and had visible extensive mold. I forgot my toothpaste and looked inside the teethcleaning kit in the bathroom to use the sample size paste and was surprised to see mold!! We had our evening meals at El Muelle and noted a change in the quality of the food and customer service. I do not know if a new management style has been adopted, but whatever has happened, it is not a change for the better. We do not plan to return to either hotel.

Small hotel located about 10 minutes walk from the center of Suances.Hotel is new , so very clean and modern. Every room has unique colors and style. Good breakfast and free Internet but only in very small lobby. Only minus is not restaurant on place. They offer coupons for restaurant in near hotel (15 Euro per dinner ), we tried ones but it was disaster.
