What People are saying

Never again !

We rented a room for two nights for a family event nearby ! We stayed one long night — the room had a terrible musty Odor ! The carpet, furniture and drapery were at least 20 yrs old - the bedding probably had not been cleaned - the tv was all static -after one hour I cancelled the second night and changed hotels ! Never again would I step foot into this place !

Great Stay!

My wife, three children, and I visited the lodge and water park this past weekend and had a great experience. Friendly and accommodating staff. We rented a cabana to watch OSU game, and had some issues with the TV. We alerted the head maintenance man and manager on staff and the issue was resolved immediately. The park was clean and very professionally ran by all involved. Food was good and would go back in a heartbeat. We had visited a few years ago and didn't not have the same experience. The waterpark and the lodge seem to be going in the right direction.

Attempted Get Away

I booked a room at The Cherry Valley Lodge as they advertise a water park. I thought this would be great for my young grandchildren. I even called and asked the front desk about the water park as the hotel site mentioned a surcharge for the water park. No where did I find that the water park was only open on the weekend. Well, I tried to cancel due to this and they charged me $35.00 to cancel even though I canceled well ahead of time and due to the circumstances. We only booked this hotel because of the water park and it wasn't open!

One and done

Stayed here for a weekend visit to Granville and it was a big mistake.

Extremely poor service at check in. Another guest called the front desk while we were checking in and the two at the front desk asked aloud "if they don't like the smell of your room, why are they calling us?"

The bed in our poor smelling room is more like a mushy hammock. Water stains on the ceiling too.

The shower is great and the bartender was sweet and offered great service.

Disappointing and not worth the savings

I thought I'd try something different for the area as I normally stay at a different hotel. I searched around and found this place. The photos looked reasonable but the reviews were mixed. It has an average review, so I wondered 'how bad could it be?' Well, it's bad.
Our stay started with pulling up to a very dimly lit property. I wasn't actually for sure that we were in the right place as it was so dark, and honestly I almost missed the sign at the road to turn in to the parking lot.
I pulled the car up to the entrance which looked nice and walked in to the front desk. I noticed an odor, but I couldn't (and still can't) put my finger on what it was. It wasn't overwhelming but it was smelly. When I got up to the front desk, I'm always cheerful and generally chatty when I say hello and get checked in. The two people there couldn't have cared less about what I had to say or what my questions were. Short replies using as few words as possible was their modus operandi. No problem, they're both probably shy or not used to speaking to people because their heads have been buried in their mobile phones for so long. So, I had my two boys grab a cart while I was finishing up and unpack the car.
When you load up a cart with some baggage, it helps the cart to move if the tires aren't flat. They struggled (while I laughed a bit) with the cart to get it to the room while I parked the car.
While walking to the room, I noticed that the floors squeaked a great deal and that there were stains in the carpet the whole way to my room. Enough stains that I had to mention it, which is too much. Totally understand that things get worn and need to be addressed, but this was a little gross.
When I arrived in the room, it was laid out very oddly, but that was not a big deal. They had to make the most of the space and I guess this was the only way to do it. However, the bedcovers were either dirty, overworn, or both. My 17-year-old son was grossed out by the bedcover (I know. He's 17, but stuff like this doesn't normally bother him) and he tore those off of our beds right away and put them on the floor. He also made the comment that he was glad he brought flip-flops so that he could walk around in the room. So, I'm not the only one who noticed.
When we travel by car, we always keep a cooler. My son also brought a water jug for ice and water, so I went out in the hall to the ice machine to get ice--not working. I went downstairs to get ice from the machine below--not working, called the front desk who suggested going to the back of the kitchen or the in-house pub, so I sent my boys down with the cooler and jug to get some ice. Apparently the 'bartender/server' was so rude to my son that another guest said something about it to my son. She filled up the jug but sent them away about the cooler.
I'm getting increasingly frustrated with this situation, so I call back to the front desk and ask that they please give me an answer to my ice and service issue and that I would be back at the front desk in 30 minutes as I had some work to do before I made it down there.
After 30-40 minutes, I went down to the front desk to figure out how to solve my ice issue and to address the problem at their pub with my boys. I found out that out of eight ice machines, there is only one currently working in the hotel. The bartender/server didn't have enough to make drinks, she was rationing it. Also, they described the bartender/server as having an 'overbearing personality'. I suggested that perhaps she was in the wrong line of work. It fell on deaf ears.
My night isn't over as I'm still in this place, too tired to deal with going to another hotel, as are my boys. I would like to know that the hotel reads these and does something about them. If they do, I'm in room #256 and stayed at your hotel on 9/15/2017. You have my email in your reservation and so you can contact me directly. I'm happy to give you feedback on my whole stay as this is just after being here for not even two hours...

There is a positive, which I have struggled to find tonight; about 300 yards outside of the entrance, down the street is a Bob Evans. My kids and I have shared a number of great memories there in our home city, so it'll be a wonderful trip down memory lane at breakfast tomorrow.

In closing, don't stay here. You can spend $10-20 more and spend your time in a consistently clean, branded hotel about 10 minutes away. Don't be adventurous and try this place unless you go in with your eyes wide open. Read the reviews and take the ones written in the last three months very seriously. This place is in very poor condition and desperately needs to be either deeply cleaned or remodeled.
