Fairhavens an important landmark since 1920, is conveniently located at a ten minutes walk from the mall. It provides the much wanted respite from the run-of-the mill hotels and is spread over two acres of land. Built in the splendor of stone and wood, it perpetuates the great colonial heritage in which character and cultivated lifestyle are the basic standards of hospitality. These standards have steadily grown with the expectations of the guests who are now habitual to all conceivable comforts and services.

What People are saying

If you are driving yourself, beware of the steep incline at the hotel entrance

We visited Nainital recently and stayed at Chevron Fairhavens.
First about the route to Nainital:
We followed Google maps and it guided us through the Delhi-Gazhiabad-Hapur-Moradabad-Kaladungi-Nainital route. This route is not a very pleasant one as we faced lot of jams near Hapur due to the on road construction. Also, on the way we had to pass through numerous small hamlets in UP which were congested. However, post Kaladungi, the scenic beauty compensated for all that.

Now about Chevron:
Positives:
This resort is well located with the Naini lake only a few meters away. We had wonderful lake view from all the 3 rooms on the first floor.
They provided complimentary pick up and drop to and from the lake side.
Food was good however appeared a bit overpriced.
Rooms are furnished and provide a British era charm as most furniture appeared to be well kept antiques.
The garden is well kept and the view of the lake from there is mesmerizing.
Negatives:
The resort is located at an extremely steep incline from the main road. Both our vehicles got stuck and slided backwards which was enough to terrify us (just to mention, all of us were experienced drivers and have driven on difficult hill terrain earlier). One of the hotel drivers later came and rescued us.If you are driving yourself, do make sure to call them in advance and ask for the driver to take your car till the hotel.
Room facilities were not in good shape. Geasers, electric points frequently went out of order.
Cable TV in all the rooms was not working.
The property is good if you like heritage stays.
Boating in Naini jheel was the best part. Last but not the least, do remember to get Baalmithai from Mamus (estd 1940) from the market near the hotel.

Old property lacking hospitality

TusharDX on 01/11/2017 21:24

We stayed at Chevron Fairhavens in Oct last month. As Chevron is being developed as a luxury brand, we were indeed looking for a promising stay in Nainital. Alas, we were deeply disappointed on multiple fronts. It is unfortunate as this hotel does tick right boxes in terms of location, heritage construction and external decor, but severely lacks in terms of hospitality, professional approach and overall quality of stay.

To start with, this hotel had one of the most unwelcoming reception/front desk. Reception is your chance to make the first impression. One would expect smiling faces or courteous staff, both of which were lacking here.

This hotel has a nice antique look with British-style wooden architecture. Reception leads into a rectangle-shaped central hall, which also serves as the dining area, with rooms located on all sides on 2 floors. This setup looks charming, but that’s where its practicality ends. Being an old property built using wood, rooms are not sound proof and are prone to external noise from everywhere. For example, windows open outside overlooking the parking lot, whereas doors open towards the hallway. Both let in considerable noise esp. via doors, when guests congregate in the central hall for the meals. Similarly, wooden flooring from above let’s in sound of footsteps or thumps or even chatter if the guest is loud enough. In fact this proved to be our morning alarm!

Rooms are of average size with attached bathroom, but were lacking cleanliness. Glasses kept in the room had white powder/dry stains and had to be rewashed. When I moved the portable room heater (which was half melted and then fixed, with a big hole), there was a lump of hair beneath it. From the looks of it, it didn’t seem like anybody had done cleaning duty in a while or someone was not doing their job diligently.

Food was ok and consisted of regular Punjabi menu. Breakfast spread was limited. Challenge here was to get a table. Tables placed in the hall seemed inadequate for the hotel size with random placement. Also, we had to look for staff member if we needed some help with the menu (say to order Omelette). In general, the hotel seemed to be under staffed given the rush period it was.

Overall, a place that has potential but falls way short. There are definitely better places out there, and I recommend choosing one of them if you visiting Nainital.

Very Dirty property and rude front desk

Pranavjain on 18/10/2017 11:44

We stayed at this property during the Dussehra break. The rooms are very dirty as if they don’t even mob the floors as my daughter dropped a grape on day 1 and it was there till day 3. The sheets are also stained. In the dining hall also they don’t change the covers on dinner table no matter how dirty they get.
Would like to especially mention Mr. Rajender who sits at the front desk as he is extremely rude and rest of all the staff is very courteous. As I was traveling with my 1 year old daughter so her meal had to be prepared,my wife gave them all the ingredients to cook including salt it just had to be put in a cooker for 10 mins for that he demanded cooking charges from us. Also as we were traveling with our maids he had the audacity to tell us that your maids dare not step in the property. Would give one star more if mr Rajendra would not be there.
Don’t recommend this property to anyone

A HERITAGE HOTEL WITH EXCELLENT LOCATION

Vikram83512 on 27/09/2017 00:06

It was an unplanned trip to Nainital with my friend. Last minute i called up my Travel agent and booked Chevron Fairhavens. i have stayed at many hotels over the years, luxury to budget ones, but this time i decided to stay at a Heritage hotel.

It is the perceptive and friendly service that makes it worthwhile staying in this heritage hotel. The hotel staff is very social, and helpful. Hotel is very nicely maintained with spacious rooms, excellent food quality and lush green surroundings. Hotel provides shuttle service upto mall road which is hardly 500 mts from hotel. Drive from main road to hotel is approx 100-150 meters with narrow & elevated road. The only problem in hills is about parking, but Fairhavens has ample parking area. Great place for a short family break amid hills.

And as many people have written before. Fairhavens, is a place you would definitely come back to and recommend to your family & friends. Thank you very much to entire Chevron Team for making our stay so pleasant !!!

Good stay!

I stayed with my family in Chevron Fairhavens. The stay was excellent and rooms were spacious. Worth the money paid. Food was included in my package. Bkfst and Dinner both were delicious. It looks like a heritage hotel with wooden interiors. Only tough part is travel from and to Mall Road. View is excellent from the Hotel.
