We stayed 5 nights in a superior river view room (main hotel )
Plus points:
Arrived using the ibis shuttle from Chiang Rai @ 450 baht per person.
Amazing river view and nice gardens, with the infinity pool alongside the river .
Good sized room and very clean.
Super bath tub on the large balcony - amazing wow factor in a 3 star hotel.
Decent buffet breakfast, plenty of choice :Aoy excellent and all staff aimed to help us.
Ate at the restaurant on an evening and food was always good and very reasonably priced.
Free bicycles to borrow
Easy walk to 711 and local bars. (We loved Rin Bar, 100m from hotel for beers) Grab a Tuk-Tuk to Tesco Lotus /KFC approx 2 miles.(double check the price!!)
A few minor points
Pool busy on afternoons with lots of kids (great if you have kids!) On the Sunday morning it was impossible to even get in the pool as the unsupervised kids had 4 inflatables in there.
Found that there was a bit of a smell from the bathroom drain (we asked the cleaner if she could put more bleach in but didn’t work)
WiFi intermittent ( but on border of Laos )
When we left there was a massive storm and both us and the bags were soaked. The area between the lobby and the hotel rooms is open.
Check out was slow and seemed disorganised.
For a 3 star hotel on the border of Laos and Thailand it definitely exceeded my expectations. The GM, very visible, helpful and a pleasure to deal with, also leads by example, he asked us if we needed anything and even took us to the Friday night food market. !
Nice place but need few refreshments and improvements

We stayed three nights in this property. The strong point of this place is definitely the location: hotel and bungalows overlooked the Mekong river with the view on Lao at the opposite side. We really enjoyed the swimming-pool as well as the breakfast area.
Our bungalow was nice with a private terrace and mattress was very comfortable. However it really needs some maintenance and cleaning [air-conditioning was very dusty for example in the bungalow 135]. There was a strong humidity smell in the room when we checked in.
Breakfast was a generous buffet served on an opened-terrace. All items were not tasty and some basic items were missing on a daily basis [two first days, there was no butter ; last day, no more milk]. Worth to be noted there is a huge Tesco Lotus at 1km and 7-eleven at 500m: easy to get those items in an emergency case...
Staff was kind but they didn't all speak very well english. It was sometimes complicated to be understood.
Our overall experience was good and we recommend this place but it was below expectations compared to Accorhotels' standards.
Noisy kids ruined a quiet break at the Mekong

No parental or management control resulted in a balcony with a beautiful view of the river and Laos being totally useless. I had been advised by the hotel to upgrade and pay extra for this!
Same group arrived back at about 10pm with food and drinks from outside and set up at the pool under my window and in front of the sign which said : No food or drink allowed from outside.
Next day, after driving to the Golden Triangle, I arrived back to find the pool filled with a different crowd of boys, not so noisy but filling the pool and making it useless for an elderly gentleman to take some exercise. I asked reception if a different lot had checked in but was told they were local and were allowed to use the pool every afternoon.................
No butter for the toast on my first morning's breakfast and on the second there was lots of butter but they did not put out the cereals and milk out. Don't ask Why.
This hotel could be fantastic so please work on it as the staff were all super friendly especially at the evening dinner terrace.
Right on the mighty Mekong River with great sunset views.

We had booked two nights and were upgraded to a riverside bungalow that was clean and comfortable. It was still to be upgraded to Ibis Styles livery but that did not detract from it’s function or comfort. It is set amongst beautiful gardens with teak trees and has a lovely balcony overlooking the river. We dined at the riverside restaurant both nights which offered a happy hour and discounted drinks. The food was delicious, especially the Mekong Catfish, and even before Le Club discount was great value. Morning breakfast was a buffet in the main restaurant and had a good spread of eastern and western foods and an egg station. It also overlooked the Mekong River across to Laos. The hotel is very close to town and served as an ideal base to explore the area. There is a nice pool, which was inviting and had great sunset views. We had a small problem on check out as our prepaid booking made months earlier had not been processed correctly requiring payment. This was professionally handled, as all dealings with Accor hotels have been. We look forward to returning in the future and expect the hotel will be even better when the full transition to Ibis Styles is completed.
