If you're in India for a wedding or visiting family you must stay at this villa. It is an ancestral family home converted into a hotel. I had to attend a function in Arimalam in April there when the weather was at its peak temperature. This place offered me all the comfort and facilities I needed to survive the heat in India. Plus the breakfast was so good almost like homemade! My dad loved the breakfast provided and my dad only eats home cooked meals. Definitely would recommend this place to everyone.
Great place !

We stayed here for two days ... and it was fantastic . Chidambara Vilas is a well maintained mansion amidst a street of other old Chettinad mansions that have been left to decay . Sangam Group has leased a part of the mansion and converted it to a hotel and has made efforts to maintain this property.
The rooms are well maintained . The food at the hotel is great - the lunch is absolutely fantastic. There wasn't much of a choice for dinner both days and had to ordered ahead of time . Breakfast was also great - lots of choice and lots of items .
Make sure to get the tour of the place and keep aside 45-60 minutes for the same . Also, go explore the place by yourself , don't miss going the roof early morning or evening and to the darbar hall .
Will recommend .
With a bit of work this hotel could be excellent.

This is a beautiful historic building. Our room was lovely and very clean. The pool was adequate. There is a good sized games room a with good activities a to do. What let's this hotel down was attention to detail and making assumptions about their guests.
On arrival my husband got a welcome drink. I went to the washroom so did not receive a drink. When we checked in and handed our passports over they did not return them I had to go to reception and ask for them back. The pool area is good but has very few sunbeds. One of the sunbeds was broken and was left there. The decking needs some TLC. The most annoying issue we had was there was an assumption that we would want to eat European food which was badly prepared. We did point out that this was not the case and in fairness the staff produced an excellent Indian breakfast for us the next day. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others. Please rectify the issues I pointed out and this will be an excellent hotel rather then a very good hotel.
Bygone Era

Nestled amidst a sleepy village stands this majestic Chettiars household converted into a charming hotel. Having retained the old house one gets a feel for the luxurious lifestyle of the financiers and traders of British times- Chettiars ; hence Chettinad.
Spacious rooms, with a common courtyard is a throwback to the age gone by. The food is to die for. Don't miss their lunch. Friendly staff and a great pool make the stay worth every penny.
A good standard hotel to stay at the village area

Recently I attended a prayer at my relatives village in kadiapetti.AS I nneed to spent two nites, they recommended cidambara vilas hotel, which was very close to their home.True enough, I checked into his hotel and was amazed with it's décor and heritage look of the hotel. The toilets and other facilities were modern and was good for a 4 star hotel in kadiapetti.Service of front office staff, bell boy, room service and kitchen was more then my expectations. If you are nearby there, do not miss staying in this hotel, which is historical and traditional with modern facilities.food choice fr lunch and dinner had limitations.
