Good budget choice in Chicago's Chinatown

This is a low cost alternative in the midst of Chinatown Chicago. Good location in easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, the Chinese-American Museum, and the Cermak-Chinatown CTA Station Red Line at South Wentworth and West Cermak Road. No parking so you have to find one on the street that is not metered or use the public parking lot on South Wentworth between South Archer and South Cermak. Temporary parking to check-in and unload is available in front of the canopied entrance. Turn on your lights when parked.
Rooms are clean but basic. Good cable TV and secure Internet WiFi. Large work desk was helpful. Large closet without doors. Shower stall was good and water pressure adequate. On third floor but window looked out onto an alley without a view. Did not need to use either the heater or A/C but unit appears modern. No elevator so pack light. Fairly quiet for being in the midst of a busy business area. Staff was welcoming and helpful. English, Cantonese and Mandarin are spoken. No breakfast. Furnishings were serviceable but not fancy. Lobby is neat and modest. Good value, much more affordable than anything else nearby in the city.

There is a reason this place is cheap... set your expectations and it will be fine.
The good: Great and helpful staff. You want hot water? You can burn your skin off, day or night. Air conditioner is legit. Don't set it to 60 degrees unless you really want the room at 60. No bed bugs sighted.
The bad: tight quarters. Paper thin walls. 'Big Trouble in Little China' vibe.
There is a reason this place is cheap... not a place to hang out, but great to crash and shower when you need it.
This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed

Since the rates quoted by other nearby hotels were all above $200 due to a high demand on a convention day, I had no choices but to stay here by paying around $120 a night. Unfortunately, everything was dirty, terrible and bad quality. Trash cans unwashed, broken chairs, towels with holes. And I need to beg the staff to let me use their hair dryer at the front desk and return it immediately. I think this hotel should have charged me less than $50 for the terrible room that I got.
Since their rate is always the lowest in the area, they don't bother to spend time and effort to make improvements. Competition needed for them to make changes.....
Don't stay here unless its rate is close to one third of the rate offered by other nearby hotels (i.e. Jaslin Hotel). And only if you're willing to expect a very bad experience just to save money.
OK budget hotel

Attended a conference in Chicago, but the hotels nearby were to expensive. Choose the Chinatown hotel based on price. For the price you get basic facilities, but that's OK. Room was small, but tidy and clean. Love the choice of many good Chinese eateries virtually within minutes of walking. Staff were friendly and helpful. Train station a block away and only 5 stops to my conference venue. only negative thing was that my room was on the 3rdd floor and no lifts, had to carry my luggage up narrow stairs. Will stay here again when returning to Chicago.
Not the worst choice

Our initial reservation at the Hyatt fell through so in the spur if the moment we opted for a little adventure. Starting with the positives; we got an amazing nights sleep, building was quiet and the A/C was blowing right down in the bed and felt great. One thing that should be noted is that there is free street parking and if your patient you can get fairly close to the building. The hotel sits just a couple 100 feet off the main drag and the smell of all the food will make you want to eat even when your not hungry. People were friendly and helpful. The negatives are that there is no elevator and three floors, and the major negative is that the ice machine is smaller than a carry on suitcase.
