Great hotel for families

Following a last minute decision to spend a family night away we booked the Chine hotel for our overnight stay. My husband spoke with Drew from the call centre who was very pleasant and helpful. We arrived at the hotel around 3 but our room was not ready, we had only booked about 3 hours before arrivival so this wasn't a problem and a late checkout was given for the inconvenience which was nice considering we booked so late! The grounds are nice and we were lucky enough to be able to enjoy a drink outside in the gardens whilst the children played in the little kids adventure area. The little soft play area also came in handy for dad to keep our little one entertained whilst mum got ready for the evening. Breakfast was really nice and would definately recommend. The breakfast room overlooks the sea and is a great setting to start your day. My only gripe was with the housekeeping team on the Sunday morning who appeared unaware of our agreedlate checkout and were miserable! Al in all though we had a great stay and I would not let this put me off staying again
Fantastic short break it made you feel like you had been away for much longer

Lovely Hotel in a good location, lots to see and do especially if you enjoy beach walks and walking along the cliff tops
Hotel very clean
Staff were all really helpful and courteous.
The breakfast although it is buffett style the hot food is replemised really frequently and the bacon and sausages are cooked to perfection ( not anemic!) eggs are just soft. Sp diificult to get these things in standard hotels
Their is car parking on site but not sure how this would work out with a full hotel however unlike a lot of accommodations in Bournemouth it is free The beach is just a short walk down the hotels beautiful gardens or along the road,
Good beach walks in both directions
Hotel bar food nice and had a tapas section which was nice if you didn't want too much to eat
Leisure facilities really nice both indoor and outdoor pools
Nice enough hotel, pity about the staff

Dealing with the hotel over email prior to my arrival, was a very pleasant experience. Consequently being at the hotel in person and dealing with 'front office' staff was a monumental let-down.
Although the young gentleman behind reception was polite and friendly, he lacked the training and support to adequately serve guests. From effectively being told I wasn't as important as the mostly non-paying wedding guests and being given the run-around for car parking (when there was plenty "reserved" outside the door of the hotel) for 25 minutes in the pouring rain, to the pre-ordered, pre-paid bottle of champagne on arrival to celebrate my Mum's 60th that I reconfirmed at check-in not in fact being in the room when we got there, to being given incorrect information regarding hotel lay-out (resulting in us being late for beauty treatments), to a package I had shipped from Selfridges to the hotel for my arrival mysteriously never appearing even though Selfridges has a spotless delivery record, made for an unnecessarily stressful unpleasant time.
Breakfast was overcooked and cold.
The twin beds were very uncomfortable - sagging and moved if one breathed too hard.
Ildiko who runs the spa treatments was the standout highlight!
Birthday disappointment

I booked this trip for my mum's 66th birthday. There was myself, my 2 year old daughter and my mother. When we arrived everything seemed wonderful. Even though the weather was horrendous we were determined that it wouldn't ruin our stay. We used the indoor play area and pool (indoor Jacuzzi needs renovating). Both pleasurable experiences. We also chose to eat in at the hotel that evening. Extremely pleased. Wonderful food and amazing staff.
Our problems arose when we retired to bed. Room 108 which is in the basement overlooking the overflow carpark. Constant banging of doors and cars in and out. Annoying but manageable. However to be woken at 05.30 am by the refuse collection who took 20 minutes shouting and laughing directly outside our window was definitely not manageable! This understandably ruined out experience. If this was a one off I could understand. However when I spoke to the manager he informed me he was aware of issues with that room and noise as people had complained before! He said that the bin men were early that day and should have been there at 07.30am. According to him he can't help the bin collections (not a helpful response). As I stated to him if as a company they ate aware of a particular room posing problems why would they not disclose this or offer it at a reduced rate. I now had a toddler who had been awake from 05.30am and a 2 hour drive ahead of me. Our day had to be cut short due to how exhausted we were. When I book a hotel for the night the very least I expect is a comfortable night's sleep. This was lacking. I feel it is very underhand to deceive people when they know that noise will ultimately wake people up at 7/7.30am every Monday. Unfortunately for us it was 05.30am. Waited 4 days for a response from hotel to be offered a meal should I wish to return 🙈. This experience ruined what would otherwise have been a wonderful experience.
Swimming in the rain at Beautiful Gardens at The Chine hotel.

What a delight The Chine hotel is the gardens are just lovely and lead to beach, it was a shame the weather did not permit sunbathing in them, having said that I made use of the lovely "heated" outdoor pool, during one swim it rained but it just didn't matter as the setting is so lovely. Indoor pool and Jacuzzi good as well. Gym needs a bit of attention with some machines needing oiling, it could also do with opening a bit earlier, most hotels open 6.30 or 7.00 The Chine not until 8.00. I booked room with sea view, a lovely big room with good view, on arrival we were told the curtains needed attention and whilst that was carried out we could go and get a complimentary drink at bar which we did and the Manager took the time to seek us out and apologize for any inconvenience, we really appreciated that. Breakfast Day 1 bit disappointed as not as good as in some hotels we stayed in, in the Bournmouth area, however day 2 had the haddock and poached eggs, excellent. Staff are all helpful especially when the drinks machine became uncooperative and one of the girls just stayed there, helping us out. All in all a very enjoyable short break.
