Nice Hotel with Budget Prices but Lots of Tour Buses
teacherkhon 09/11/2017 23:27The hotel is located about 25 min. from Barcelona's El Prat Airport, is very close to the A2 freeway, and has free parking which is great if you have a car. It is also great for tour buses, so there are lots of big tour groups that stay at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and our room was clean and comfortable. The free breakfast and the good price makes the hotel very budget friendly. There are two nice restaurants in Molins de Rei within walking distance of the hotel. The Hotel and Restaurant Calasanz had the best meals of our entire trip! There is also a very nice grocery store about 1/2 block from the hotel. During our 4-night stay, we walked 10 min. to the train station each day and took the train into Barcelona. The train is very comfortable and goes to Place de Catalunya, or you can transfer to the Metro trains within Barcelona. Be aware that theft is a big problem in Barcelona, so be sure to use the safety deposit boxes that are available at the reception desk!
They do not care about their guests
Jasinthan Gon 27/10/2017 19:09I initially booked them through Hotwire and wanted to cancel the same day however they wouldn't allow it. I understand it was a non-refundable booking however I mentioned to hotwire and the hotel that I was mislead by the Hotwire site with regards to the currency. Although the staff appeared friendly, they were totally not trained to inform the guests of the petty theft prevalent in Barcelona. Not a word was mentioned about this while I asked the reception staff about the places to visit in Barcelona. Because the room didn't have a safe we ended up taking our passports with us on the first day sightseeing in Barcelona. My wife's handbag which had our passports and PR card was stolen that day. This could've been prevented had the staff notified us about the dangers of traveling with your belongings in the city. In addition to this the place was also too far from the train station, with two little ones it was a mistake staying that far from the city. And not at all worth the price.
Cheap Price but away from the City
norman son 24/10/2017 11:32During Check in, i gave my name to the reception but instead he required to provide me the confirmation booking which makes me uneasy. Compare to Holiday Inn express in Schipol they anticipated the guest arriving in the property which makes me feel special and my guests. I should say staff to train proper and standard training on customer service skills. We chose this property compare to others as the cost of the other hotels is quite far from any IHG property. Though we expect there's complimentary transportation going to/from the hotel to the main city as what other IHG property does, Holiday Inn Express Molins De Rei dont offer it at all. The bathroom needs to refurbish as there was a molds formation on the tiles and needs to be clean more often. Blanket and sheets were not changed during our 5 days stay. When checking out at 5am in the morning the reception didnt give us the final bill of our stay. Very BAD experience.
If you like staying on an industrial park this is for you.
Cath Don 10/10/2017 11:43Staff were nice, but the location was AWFUL - walked for 45 mins to find somewhere to eat, but apart from kebab shops and greasy spoon, forget it. I know Holiday Inn Express is budget, out of town, but this was 25 mins from centre of Barcelona by train and NOTHING there. The carpet in the corridor seemed to have suffered from a flood - stained and grim. Room was clean and comfortable though. Breakfast ok, but like a works canteen, with staff thrusting blue trays on you to make it easier for them to clear the tables!
Worst nightmare of a hotel ever
Arthur Mon 08/10/2017 05:49Do NOT STAY HERE unless you hate yourself and life itself. Hallways smell like volatile organic compounds like glue and paint. AC is ineffective. The rooms smell like cigarette smoke, there is a giant warehouse club right next to the hotel where drunks yell and scream from midnight to 6 AM - still going on right now as I write this. The sound of the club's bass speakers could be clearly heard all night long. Bright lights from a bus depot blast the interior of the room. This hotel was hands down the worst nightmare of any hotel I've ever been at.
