The location suited us for why we were down there. The room was average. Disappointed that certain things were not working, the bathroom curtain was missing which meant there was no privacy between the bathroom and the bedroom, the light in the bathroom wasn't working, the hair dryer was missing, the blinds were broken. They were very quick to fix the light the next day, but these items should be checked before we arrive. Staff were friendly, but a bit disorganized upon our arrival. Not a place where you want to have to stay longer than two nights. They lack a cappuccino machine which was very disappointing.

This business does not exist anymore. It has closed down, but on the same premises there are self catering chalets, run by a different company. The chalets accept bookings into the night, and the eldish couple.that helped us was very friendly and swift in handling our booking.

Very friendly staff, beautiful location and spacious luxury rooms. Good value for money. Stayed here as part of a group and the "braai style" dinner and English Breakfast with some local dishes really went down well.

We stayed here on our way to see the flowers in the Cape. Disappointed in the state of the resort which seems to be a little run down. Management of the hotel not good. Food in the restaurant was also not great. Should maybe have tried one of the B&B's in town.

Spent the long weekend 14,15,16 June at the Protea Christiana. We booked the hotel based on the fact that they have a Spa, on a hot spring and game drives. the advertising looked great. When we got there we found that the Spa was not operational, there were no game drives and hot spring??? This hotel is n the middle of nowhere so with nothing to do no point being there. This however was not the biggest issue. The food in the restaurant was inedible. Our first meal was terrible so second meal I decided to have a burger - not much you can do to mess up a burger right??? Not so! After waiting for an hour My burger arrived and half way in I found that the patty was still wrapped in its plastic wrapper that was melted into the meat - I was horrified. We called the manager who comped my burger but really the damage was done, i had eaten half a plastic bag. We didnt risk eating breakfast and drove miles to get anything to eat and find something to do - to Kimberly to be exact. When we got back we found that our room had not been made up. I think there must have been maybe 5 rooms occupied so not sure how that happened. We had to ask twice to get that done. After this horrific weekend I seriously think they should close their doors. I sent a complaint via the Protea site and didn't even get a response. I travel extensively and am horrified at the level of service received by the Protea group.
