Travelling through France on the way down to Spain, we decided to treat ourselves to a night in a chateau. Orfeuilette was just perfect. Our deluxe rooms in the chateau were very originally decorated and comfortable, and the pool and gardens were the perfect places to relax in the afternoon after a day of travelling.
For a hotel that (I assume) is particularly suited to couples looking for a romantic night away, I was really impressed with the staff's attention to our 2 young kids. The highlight was no doubt the gourmet meal that was served to the kids for dinner, consisting of local charcuterie, filet mignon of pork and a fantastic raspberry and strawberry tart. They will never eat regular kids' menus again!

Great hotel in castle. Food was excellent ! Had the junior suite, which is really romantic when you are with two ! I'm definately coming back here when I can !
Staff is very friendly. Close to exit 32 on motorway A75 between Clermond-Ferrand and the south of France.

I had not realised when booking that there was the main building and the 'Orangeris' rooms, displaced from the main building.
The main hotel and reception is magnificent, the outbuilding is not of the same level of opulence.
Our room, up 2 flights of stairs was clean and bright. Too bright as the afternoon sun had increased the temperature somewhat and opening the window allowed noise from the motorway to intrude. We asked for and got a fan which helped to keep us cooler.
A reasonable night's sleep, given the high temperature in the room.
Bath towels are budget-hotel sized, small and not overly fluffy.
Had it not been for the restaurant (reviewed separately) I would have been underwhelmed by this hotel..
The free wifi is laughably slow and really only suitable for catching up on emails. Downloading the dinner menu (there is no in-room supplied information) took an age..

The ambiance is great - in a modernised chateau. We were given a large disabled room with an enormous en suite. The food was lovely, but we could not order only one course, only a minimum of three courses. Breakfast buffet was standard for a four star hotel, but there was no bacon when we ordered bacon and eggs, and they did not think to offer to fry raw ham, which they had on the breakfast buffet. We arrived in the middle of a heat wave (over 37 Celsius). The room faced west, with closed windows and open curtains, and was like an oven when we arrived. No air conditioning in any part of the hotel. With open windows the room cooled down enough in the late evening so we could sleep. The hotel is at 1100 metres so always cools down at night. We asked for a flat sheet for the king size bed. They only had fitted sheets, so we used two small ones instead of one big one, and took the winter weight duvet off the bed.

This has to be one of the most original and memorable hotels - from the quirky but stylish modern décor to the parklike grounds complete with donkeys and goats..
Our large room n the main chateau was huge with in-room bathtub plus shower room . Again the interior design showed a real attention to detail . The restaurant served a choice of 3 menus and the quality and presentation were first class.
Comprehensive cocktail and wine list that need not break the bank.In fact the overall cost compares very favourably with other hotels in this class.
Everything about this hotel including the staff who really seemed to enjoy being there is quite exceptional and if you trip through France takes you on the A75 motorway ( the Chateau is 2- 3 mins off) try to make a point of stopping off here
