What People are saying

Stunning Setting

Cheryl Won 19/11/2017 08:39

We were lucky enough to arrive on a late winter sunny afternoon and the chateau and lake looked stunning in the evening sunshine. We received a warm welcome from reception and were shown across to our room in the annexe building. A large airy lovely room with french doors and a balcony with a magnificent view of the lake. I think to be honest the rooms are a little dated and could easily be bought back to life the wallpaper looks tired. There was so much space with a wonderful marble bathroom and dressing area. The wood floor looked beautiful albeit a little slippy so elderly people would need to be aware. It could do with more soft furnishings to make the large space feel a little cosier and although a lovely dining table a small 2 seater sofa would have finished the room as plenty of space! Room service was excellent and the lovely lady delivered our breakfast every morning with a smile! We also tried room service for our evening meal and although a little on the pricey side for a sandwich and side order of chips it was delicious!! The grounds are beautiful and the old part of the chateau is stunning. We came away to relax for a week and we certainly achieved that! Would highly recommend a stay here!

Chateau with a fabulous restaurant

John Son 25/09/2017 19:48

First the poor/bad things.
Room 25, the one we stayed in had no AC. We complained over the two days we were there and nothing was done about it and believe us it was hot when we stayed.
Room 25, the curtains were badly maintained. Could not close them properly.
Room 25 (and all rooms?) the supplied dressing gowns would not fit anybody over a 36" chest.
Parking was at a premium as a BMW dealer claimed all the main parking spots ( we ignored them, had a few words with the dealer and left them to complain).

So having said all, that why 5*. The ambiance was fantastic, the chateau sat in its own lake, the staff were very attentive, the bar and general areas were superb, the wines fantastic ( but expensive) and the food at the Michelin star restaurant gave us the best meal we have ever had.

The meal we had was a tasting menu from the a la carte. 4 courses, starter, fish, meat and sweet with four different wines with each course. Everything about it was top top notch. The service, the tableware, the plates, the glasses, the food, the presentation, the food itself and the wines. The cost was 100 euros each.

If you are in the area go. For the chateau or the food or both.

Serene getaway

Loved this property. It is absolutely perfect. The food and service were outstanding. The views of the lake and the attention to detail in the rooms was impressive. Loved the pool and spacious rooms. You are close to Biarritz and beaches for entertainment and shopping yet are able to come back to this calming, lovely hideaway. I highly Recommend this property. We will be back.

A little disappointed I am afraid .

Food & gastronomy were excellent/devine but the accommodation & spa facilities were less than expected .
The towels for the pool were worn & overused , the pool area needed tidying & the gardens needed more attention .
The walk around the lake was obscured by a fallen tree .
For the price this facility could be improved

Beautiful Setting

Susan Hon 21/06/2017 10:05

We are currently staying at this lovely hotel for four nights. It has a fabulous setting, we have a lovely large room with veranda overlooking the lake, we've had a swim in the beautifully clean swimming pool and we have just eaten a lovely breakfast served by lovely staff.
There is one major problem though. It is June and perhaps unseasonally hot. The staff are hot and so are their guests. I request that the management team do not indicate air conditioning when there is none or as we have been advised, is controlled centrally...what does that even mean!!
Regardless of this, we will still enjoy our stay here but would check the weather forecast before we ever rebooked.
