We flew in via El Calafate from Buenos Aires which was stressful after possible airline strikes etc.. So this was a haven, and we were welcomed with enthusiasm. Once forms filled, passports checked etc..we were taken to our rooms, which were comfortable but not luxurious, rather across between the UK and French travellers chains hotels and Australian Motels, as there was a small cooking type area, and lounge format setup. Clean and efficient. Our room had a view across a shop backyard which was a bit of a dump onto the harbour, where later we saw our ship arrive which we were to board the following day. Reception area and foyer are open plan pine wood influenced, reminiscent of ski lodge style, which, as Xmas has obligatory Xmas tree! Breakfast was in the lower ground floor area, and self service - again reminiscent of ski lodge and YMCA sets ups but fine, as we all mucked in. We ate out in the evening, as there are loads of restaurants, cafes etc.. to try the obligatory King Crab which the area is renown for, and sample local brews, and Malbecs etc...

We arrived at Cilene del Faro after a week and a half of hiking in Patagonia. We were tired from the bus ride, eager to do laundry and happy that all the arranged hikes were over. At Cilene del Faro, we had a lovely room/suite that allowed us to spread out a bit and cook for ourselves. Despite having had amazing food on our tour, we jumped at the chance to cook our food for ourselves and put our feet up for an evening. The grocery store was right around the corner so we were able to get what we needed. We were on the ground floor so we did not have any views except to the private outdoor area that we enjoyed. The breakfast was extensive and the staff was so kind. This is a wonderful place to stay in Ushuaia. There is also a pool and a spa for those who are able to enjoy them.

Our suite was on the ground floor. With the uneven terrain of the area, that meant we looked up at the sidewalk. We had a small patio with sliding doors that only sort of locked, but we did not feel unsafe there. The suite had a full kitchen, living area with large screen tv, a small bedroom with comfortable bed and small bathroom with one tiny shelf to place toiletries on. You can smell the spa from the lobby and know to go down to the next level. There is a common room on the main floor with tv, books and sofas to visit on. Also a breakfast area with the usual cold breakfast items. This is not a fancy place, but it was comfortable and I heard that the rooms on upper floors had views of the harbor, town or mountains. It is very well situated to walk all over the town, exploring Ushuaia, finding shops and restaurants.

Our room was a huge one bed apartment nicely equipped, facing the Beagle Chanel. Continental Breakfast plus eggs and some fruit. Very kind staff.
Excellent Location, one block from main street, 50 mts to the Prision Museum, and short walk to the pier.

We stayed for one night prior to transferring to a hotel with the tour group to Antarctica. It is a little worn but the staff were friendly and helpful. The room (2 bed, 2 bath) on fourth floor was spacious and perfect for our family of four. If a little bit of effort and money was invested, this hotel would be fantastic. Breakfast was stock standard for South America but enough to start your day. Location to the town was walking distance but the views were incredible. We asked to stay an extra hour which was okay with reception. Wifi was excellent in the rooms. Had a pool but the area needs work to make it more inviting.
