Ideally situated 200m from Barbican Underground and easy walking distance to St Paul’s, Tate Modern and The Globe. The apartments are modern and spotlessly clean. We asked for a quiet room and were put in a room at the rear of the hotel on the 5th floor and couldn’t hear a thing from outside. Friends stayed in a room on 4th at the front which they also said was quiet. The rooms are well equipped with microwave, fridge, kettle and utensils. The breakfast was good, freshly prepared hot items and 25% off the bill for residents. We would definitely return.

I booked a studio in this apart-hotel for three nights. My husband was on business and I was a tourist. The situation, in the Barbican suited us very well. It was only a few stops on the tube to Piccadilly for my husband’s meeting and a 20min walk for me to either Islington/Angel or St Paul’s cathedral. We even walked to Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery on a damp day. The staff were very polite and helpful, the room was clean and the bed comfortable, although There was only one stool for the breakfast bar and one chair. The room was completely free of noise, which surprised us. The hotel has a gym and a laundry where one can do one’s own washing. The rooms are not cleaned daily unless requested and paid for. We enjoyed the breakfast in ‘Sourced’, the adjoining eaterie and it was clearly popular with locals. There are plenty of other restaurants in the neighbourhood. We would definitely return.

We booked a Studio for 2 for one night through Secret Escapes at a cost of £124 including a free £10 voucher for breakfast at the excellent onsite cafe. A few cautionary comments...the studio was smaller than I had imagined and did not feature a kitchenette as advertised. The bed, although described as double was actually 2 separate beds pushed together. This said, the room was clean and modern and a bargain at the price. The highlight of the stay was the breakfast in the onsite cafe, Sourced Market. Although reception did not supply our free £10 breakfast vouchers until we asked and we were further confused about how to order (the cafe is self service and hotel guests must pay at the till), we did enjoy an excellent breakfast of Eggs Benedict and porridge with berry compote. Sourced Menu offers a wide range of ethically sourced hot and cold drinks with interesting breakfast options such as smashed avocado on sourdough with whipped feta & harissa and toasted crumpets with banana & peanut butter!

Several years ago I stayed at the Citadines in South Kensington and Holborn. We were in London for 9 nights this time and had some dietary demands, so a place with a kitchenette seemed like a good idea. Searching on the internet, the Citadines Barbican had the best price, so I signed up, a bit reluctantly.
Why reluctantly? Because I'm an architect and urban designer, and the Barbican is a pretty good example of what I don't do. Looking at the streetview on Google Maps wasn't very encouraging, but once we stettled in, we were happy.
The building was recently renovated, and the rooms were nicer than in the other Citadines I stayed in. I especially liked the historic London map on the bathroom floor, with the Thames flowing from the shower to the toilet. But if you need a kitchenette, make sure you get one of the rooms with a kitchenette—when the hotel was renovated, about a third of rooms (I think) lost their kitchenettes.
We checked in and found we didn't have a kitchen. But the kind staff quickly moved us, and the kitchen was good, with a dishwasher and a convection oven.
The location was better than we expected too. One tube stop was very close, with others not far away, and apps like Citymapper made it easy to use the many bus routes right in front of the hotel. St. Paul's, the City, and Clerkenwell were easy to walk to.
A good Waitrose supermarket was not far away, and the cafe and food store just off the lobby was good. Make sure you get your hotel discount.

Very roomy everything you needed as a tea drinker poss more than 2 teabags in rooms I'd recommend to people without a doubt easily accessible via tube's busses or walking
