Convenient location
AngelMarinaon 19/03/2017 05:52I stayed with my family for one night at this hotel due to its convenient location close to the airport. The check in process was fast, the rooms we were given were clean, and there was hot water for showering. The hotel gives complimentary breakfast, and transportation to a certain radius from the hotel.
Check out was fast with the help of Maria Fernanda, who does an excellent job.
Overall it was a good stay.

luisn674on 10/11/2016 13:58The smelling of the halls and rooms needs to be improved, placing deodorants, air fresheners or something else. Overall good service and excellent breakfast. Convenience location for travelers that needs to spend the night waiting for the flight.

Pummbaon 22/09/2016 02:36There was a nice stay before our night flying to los cabos!!! it was a smooth stay close to some restaurants and to the airport. I would definitely stay there again.Our check in was at 3pm we got there earlier and the receptionist was so nice to let us check in earlier.

danyvoid77on 13/04/2016 15:26Hotel rooms are in bad shape, all piece of furniture are damaged, funky smell and dirty carpet. I suggest pay a bit more and skip this spot. $1050 on tuesday.
Breakfast is avarage and descent.
Computer service room needs newcomputers all usb ports and keyboard are busted.

CONS
This is indeed a budget hotel, approx. $89. The website offers airport shuttle, but that is not true from airport to hotel. From hotel to airport, only if you reserve and, according to receptionist, if you apply (not sure what that meant).
Hotels in the airport strip use one taxi company. They do not have meters and charge whatever they want, there is nothing posted. After the trip the driver will tell you how much they typically charge for the trip and then pressure you for more money saying, "It's up to you if you want to give me more.", with the sheepish look.
Lobby and hallways are not air-conditioned. There is a lot of airport noise and there is also quite a bit of construction going on.
This is a cheap business hotel that attracts employees from companies on a shoe string budget.
Rooms are very small, smells a bit muggy and the water pressure is low. Sometimes there is hot water and sometimes not (who cares in this infernal heat in Monterrey).
Too far from the business district, downtown or anywhere else for the matter.
PROS
First and most important for me-The hotel chain believes in equal opportunity. A large part of their staff, including receptionists, are hearing impaired and many cannot speak. American Sign Language is American not not Mexican. There is a big difference. I was very impressed and happy to see that this company values all people and encourage their employees to see their disability not as a handicap but as a gift.
The staff was very friendly and professional. Always willing to help when asked specific questions. By this I mean, if you are wanting to buy some water or snacks you need to ask specifically if there is something VERY close by. If not they will call a taxi and send you 30 minutes away and the fare will be $15-$20 roundtrip. There is a 7-11 almost 10 feet from the hotel. The 7-11 has much to be desired.
The a/c in the room is good, it does the job.
WIFI is good, not great. I usually was able to connect at a 1.5-1.75 mbps. Not good for streaming, video conferencing or online schooling.
Breakfast buffet is ok. Scrambled eggs with some type of protein, refried beans and corn tortilla chips. That is all hot food. Then there is a good variety of cold cuts, cheeses, breads and pastries (if you are from USA understand the Mexican pasties are not as sweet as we have come to expect. They are a bit bland and dry). There is a very nice yogurt bar with toppings. Mango, papaya, bananas and apples for fresh fruits. Coffee, milk and orange juice. Not too bad.
Proximity to the airport is less than 5 minutes away. Don't look for a shuttle, just hail a taxi.
Recommendation:
If you stay at City Express ask for the room that is at the end of the hallway. My room was very quiet and I could not hear outside noises.
Very budget friendly.
