City lights is a lovely B and B with gorgeous views of Rotorua and friendly hosts,- Leigh and Angie. It was nice that the B and B was owned by fellow Brits. It is out of town but the instructions were easy to follow. The B and B had a lovely lounge/dining area and a hot tub and sauna that we didn't use. The bedroom was spacious with a sitting area, a comfortable bed and everything you needed in the bathroom. Angie was full of suggestions of things to do in the area. It was nice to feed the friendly alpacas. The continental breakfast was good with cereals, fruit, yogurt, toast, croissants and home made jams. We enjoyed our 2 night stay at City Lights and wished it was longer.

Away from town and a little difficult to find but well worth it. Angie and Leigh are fantastic hosts who make you feel very welcome. Our room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was very good with several items home made. They gave us some great ideas of what to do and places to eat. As a bonus we got to feed the alpacas. Our room had an amazing view. All and all a great stay.

We were touring New Zealand as part of a retirement round the world trip. As a result we stayed in a wide range of accommodation and can say that without doubt this was the best. My wife had chosen it partly because of the alpacas although the accommodation and location was obviously important. We stayed in the cottage and, as it had been my wife's birthday during the trip and our wedding anniversary, Angie had put up congratulatory banners along with a card and bottle of champagne in the fridge. We enjoyed being separate from the main house on this occasion and the views were fantastic. We were also able to feed the alpacas when they came around to the paddock in front of our cottage. It was well equipped with a selection of breakfast items. There was a small laundry room in the cottage which was very useful as we needed to do some washing after all our travelling! Angie & Leigh are the perfect hosts and it was an absolute delight to be staying away from the hustle and bustle of central Rotorua, even if we did experience a minor earthquake during our stay!

From the minute we arrived until we left we were made most welcome. The room was large and excellent. It had a sitting area and during our time in NZ it was by far the best B&B that we stayed at.
The breakfast was great, free wifi and lots of helpful ideas about what to see and where to go.
Highly recommended.

We visited Roturua in January and stayed for two nights at the Lodge. Angie and Leigh made us feel very welcome from the start. They took us to the garden to chat and to show us the beautiful view and of course, the alpacas... It takes some time and effort to get to the Lodge but it is worth it. Angie and Leigh are very nice and helpful hosts. The room is splendid and the breakfast very tasteful. After a day of discovering the area we were invited to have a glass of wine with the hosts and the other guests. Angie and Leigh are really interested in their guests and they try very hard to please everyone. This is a fantastic place to stay!
