Adequate, Pet Friendly, and Easy Drive to the Casino

The hotel was an older building, but the room was clean, and best of all, we were able have our mini schnauzer with us. Thank you, Clarion! The furniture could've used some upgrading as there were some chunks taken out of the wood on the dresser. Also, one of the bath towels had seen its better days and was quite ragged. But, the room was clean, which is the main criteria for satisfaction, in my opinion. My dad wanted to gamble at Ho Chunk Casino and the hotel was an easy convenient drive from the casino (a bit over 3 miles). Also available nearby is shopping in Lake Delton, fine dining at Ishnala Supper Club, and very nice hiking trails. In addition, the price was great ($84 for the 2 of us and the dog, including taxes). Though breakfast was included with the price of the room, we did not eat breakfast at the hotel so I cannot comment on that.
Nice Hotel and we will stay here again! CLEAN!

We stopped in while touring for the Route 66 Canon Run which ran though Aug. We tried to stay at HoChunk but they were booked so we went into Baraboo. This place only had 2 rooms left. We took the room with a King bed and Jacuzzi. A bit pricey $189.00 for one night with a $21.74 Occupancy Tax so the total bill was
$210.74. The room was clean and full of towels! We loved it. Never made it to the pool but the morning breakfast was very nice and the ladies keeping the food hot & fresh were kind. The place was clean and that's mostly what I want from a hotel.
Worked out for us

This hotel worked out for us for a 3 night stay in Baraboo. Our room was clean, the pool was nicer than most, and the rate was decent. Things that could stand to be improved- the game room could use an update, and the breakfast area, as others have stated, is too small and fills up fast. A number of people had to take their food back to their room.
Very Average; Some Things Good and Some Things Need Improvement

We recently stayed at the Clarion Inn Baraboo on a Saturday night when taking our annual summer weekend overnight trip to the WI Dells/Baraboo area to try our luck at Ho-Chunk Casino and visit other nearby attractions. Since it is already August, we were running out of time to get a weekend selected and booked, and I did not make this reservation until the Monday prior to our stay. The Clarion still had rooms available with 2 queen beds, so we decided to book a room for the following Saturday night. The rate was a bit steep, at $209 for the one-night stay before taxes, but that is to be expected for a weekend night near WI Dells in summer. We have been paying a similar rate the last several years now. We had stayed at this property before in the '90s and early 2000's under different names (Quality Inn and Park Plaza) and again as recently as 2012-2013, but it had been about 4 years since we stayed here. We found our stay to be average, with some aspects good and others in need of improvement. We arrived to check-in at about 4:30 on Saturday afternoon. The front desk clerk was efficient and informative, and he had us checked in and on our way to the room very quickly. We had no wait at the front desk for check-in! We were reminded of all the hotel's amenities and told where to park our vehicle for easy access to the room. We had a standard room with 2 queen beds on the 4th floor. The room was just OK. It was mostly comfortable, but it could have been cleaned better. The bathroom seemed slightly dirty, and there were coffee stains on the bedside table and desk area. We did not spend a whole lot of time in the room since we left again shortly after taking in our luggage to go out to dinner and the casino, and we did not return until the early hours of Sunday morning. We felt safe upon returning at about 12:30 in the morning since the parking lot had adequate lighting, and a key card is required for entry to the building. We did not sleep the greatest here, in part because our mini-refrigerator in the room was very loud when running. I felt like I was awake half the night, but I may have gotten more sleep than that. One of my other family members almost unplugged the fridge in the night because the noise was getting to her. We also were awaken by doors slamming in the night a few times, and it must have been right near our room because it was kind of loud. The beds were comfortable, but we could have had better sleep quality here, which is disappointing for paying so much. In the morning, we decided to check out the free continental breakfast, which is now on the 5th (top) floor, at about 8:00. The breakfast used to be served down in the adjoining restaurant, but they have since moved it. The set-up on the 5th floor right outside the elevator at the end of the hallway is very cramped and crowded, though the food was pretty enjoyable. The tables were all full, so we just took food back down to our room to eat there. They did have trays available to carry food to your room, so that was helpful. We enjoyed the selection of scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, pastries, biscuits, etc., and coffee, milk, and a variety of juices were available. We spent some time after breakfast enjoying the indoor pool/whirlpool, and we have always enjoyed the location of the pool on the 4th floor here! It is unusual to have pools that high up in hotels, but that is unique here, and it gives a great view of the surrounding area. There were lots of people there when we were, but most of the adults were just sitting around while the kids swam, so it wasn't too bad. The hot tub was nice and relaxing, and it functioned properly. The pool was a bit cold at first, but I found it enjoyable once getting used to the temperature. It was also nice that the pool was real close to our room with being on the 4th floor. One problem we encountered with the pool was that no clean pool towels were available. I went down to inform the morning front desk clerk, and she radioed to housekeeping to replenish the towels. She assured me that fresh towels would be brought upstairs in a few minutes. We spent 45 minutes using the pool area, and in that time, no fresh towels had been brought in. We needed to just dry off without towels. By the time we used the pool, we needed to get showered/dressed and ready to check out. One other thing with the room was that the AC unit was also very noisy when turned on, but luckily the temperatures were cooler so we did not often feel the need to have the air running. We were glad it was not in the midst of a heat wave! We were checking out by about 10:30, and this was also a quick process. A receipt had been left under our door overnight, so checking out was very fast. All in all, we had mixed feelings about this stay. It was not as nice as we remembered from past visits, and we felt it might be time for an update to the property. However, all staff was real friendly on this visit that we encountered, and we enjoyed the convenience of staying in Baraboo this time for proximity to Ho-Chunk Casino. We wish we had better luck at Ho-Chunk, but that is obviously not the hotel's fault! Baraboo is a charming city with lots to do, and this is such a beautiful area of Wisconsin, too! We would probably return to Clarion, but we continually weigh our options also. We have stayed in far worse hotels in this area!
Family outing to the Dells.

Very bad experience. We had a roach crawling on our door cought one on the sink. Went to front desk to request another room and was unable to due to them being sold out. Asked FD attendant to at least bring some bug spray and he sprayed the door hinges. In the morning went to speak to the manager he was very rude. Said yes I already called pest control what more do you want. No apology nothing so I told him I don't think I should pay for the room since we had to sleep with the light on all night well let me see what your rate is and when he seen we had a discounted rate he said absolutly not you people can't get something for nothing. Stayed on Monday July 25, 2017. I will not recommend anyone to stay there.
