Wow! How good was that? That would have to be one of the best rooms I've stayed in in Australia! Booked online a Deluxe Double and scored a magnificent super spacious King room that is bigger than my family room in my house, complete with 3P Chesterfield sofa and carved ornate matching furniture. The bathroom was huge with a double vanity and a double shower cubicle with a terrific good pressure shower. I could've played tennis on the bed and it was super comfy. Situated in the 1885 stables out the back it was great. Situated at the top end of the Launceston CBD. Recommend the restaurant too.

Well appointed rooms, excellent king size bed, large spa for two, large TV. Internet speed was excellent, good upload and download speed. It was hard to find a negative here except for having to lug suitcases up stairs which could be resolved by staff helping.

Room was lovely and well furnished but beware of having to lug your gear up two flights of steep stairs. No lifts. Staff not particularly friendly but good value for a last minute reservation. Reasonable location as only a few blocks to main part of town.

One of the highlights while living in Tasmania was attending a Sunday brunch here. The food was amazing featuring local delights *King Island brie - one of the many treats. The service was 5 star all the way. Immaculate beautiful restaurant next to park. My visit was prior to Trip Advisor dates but family and friends have assured me the standards have remained top notch.

I have stayed at this hotel on two occasions. I agree with the other reviews - the hotel is quaint , it has an old world charm and the rooms are comfortable. However I feel the hotel is not the best if you are travelling for business.
As my flight was delayed I wanted to order some dinner before the kitchen closed - the reception desk was unable to handle a simple dinner order over the phone. The hotel has no lifts and there are no staff on site after hours - so if you get locked out of your room there is a 45 minute wait for someone to let you in! The check in and check out process is very slow and inefficient. I waited 10 minutes to settle my bill and check out while the receptionist, while aware I was waiting, continued give travel suggestions and detailed instructions to a couple. Great for the recreational traveller but not for a business traveller.
Will I stay at the Clarion the next time I am in Launceston - No !
