Great value for money

Arrived to find it was now the Clarion although some signs show Hampton. Good large room on the second floor. All facilities good except dirty shower head. Enjoyed breakfast especially the waffle machine which did an excellent job. Really good price when booked online. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.
NO KING, HARD BEDS, BROKEN JACUZZI, NO REFUND

THERE IS NO KING SUITE AVAILABLE HERE. Paid nearly 400 bucks with very disappointing results. (a LOT of money for Blythe, CA) The hotel's ONE king suite we booked in advance was referred to by hotel personnel as 'broken' and PERMANENTLY unavailable - only two queens available. Hotel personnel said no refunds and no discounts. My husband and I are tall people and don't fit comfortably in queens. Had to sleep in two of the hardest beds we have ever experienced. The bedding was ridiculous for the middle of the desert. Heavy, hot, lumpy, down comforters. Hotel personnel suggested we sleep on the lumpy comforters to soften the beds and sent up thinner blankets to sleep under. The jacuzzi we looked forward to was also 'broken' and unavailable 2 of the 4 nights. When finally available on the third night, the water smelled like paint and lingered on our suits in our rooms. The jacuzzi seats were full of large gritty debris. Although the property was clean and the breakfast nice, the comfort factor was ZERO. VERY DISSATISFIED. Clarion claims they will 'make it right' if reported right away. We reported right away and nothing was 'made right.' Left a detailed comment card with contact info. No response as yet. Don't be taken in by the pretty fountain and offer of breakfast. Miserable stay with no recourse for refund or discount. We deserve a credit.
Mediocre Hotel with a Ritz Carlton Price

First, one has to figure what their name really is. It is the "system" as a Clarion but the sign on the building says it is a Hampton Inn and it only responds to California Inn. Obviously they are going through some branding changes and all the various services haven't caught up yet. At the end of the day it will be a Clarion Inn.
It is an older property and has survived more than one facelift. The rooms are adequately sized but the baths are less than commodious. Breakfast was atrocious and wholly in adequate seating space. I had to stand up to eat mine along with three others. It is two story with no elevator and all rooms open to an outside corridor. At the end of the day, it is an $80 hotel room at a $130 price, including the AAA discount. It was a busy weekend in Blythe, though who knows why?
Not a place I pine to return to. Maybe it will be better after the new branding is completed. I rated in a two but perhaps should have a been a half star more generous and I would have been had the staff been helpful. For the most part they were MIA. When we finally did find someone to check us out, they were polite.
Now a Clarion Inn

We booked two rooms under "California Inn" and to our surprise we arrived at a Clarion Inn. We booked two ground floor king study rooms and one room was on the second floor. The hotel does not have an elevator. All rooms open to outside corridors/parking lot. The rooms were exceptionally clean. The mattresses and pillows were very comfortable. The lights were bright and enabled easy reading. The included breakfast was an expanded continental breakfast which is common at many better hotels. We only had two complaints: (1) the showerhead needed to be replaced as it couldn't be adjusted and didn't put out a consistent stream of water. (2) The air freshner used in the room had an awful perfumy scent. It took us a long time to air out the room. When will hotel learn not to spray artifical smelling scents in rooms? Many people are sensitve to strong scents,
Fine... for Blythe, CA

2 1/2 stars more accurate but I'll be generous and give 3. Old place newly renovated/painted/etc. Quiet and convenient location. Liked micro and fridge. Didn't like black hair strands in sink upon arrival, rust around some bath fixtures and towel bar that wasn't screwed into wall and fell off along with first towel. Bed not great and sheets did not fit, bunched up during night. No elevator, must tote stuff up stairs to second floor. OK for a quick overnight.
