What People are saying

A Congress at Marina Beach ...and some beach life, too!

Maurizio Lon 09/06/2017 15:30

Excellent place, a lot of facilities, wonderful people with particular regards to Director Mrs. Antonella and her Assistant Sig. Ugo, always available and kindly, even when we asked for difficult things: great, rare, professionality. From a touristic point of view, a wonderful beach, a huge swimming pool, very friendly and clever animation, food as you would like it to be, clean and nice rooms ...what more? I wouldn't know, simply let me say thanks to all the staff. The only cons, hotel is quite far from Olbia Airport (80-90minutes, travelling) but they supply an excellent service not to let you waste time.
Thanks, again, and I hope we'll meet again, soon. Maurizio

Beautiful property, room quirks

IrmaVon 31/05/2017 18:56

Beautiful property, well-kept, good food, graciously served. Signage could be much better given the size of the hotel. You'll wander around a lot. The rooms lack a few amenities you'd find in a more mid-range hotel like shampoo, conditioner, iron. Wifi is crazy. For each device (!!) you get a random 8-digit number for username and password and they must be entered each time.
Several in the conference complained that AC doesn't work. Hotel says it does. a cute train takes you to Orosei on the hour.

Marina beach resort is the beast resort in all area. Very big and a lot beautiful rooms!! All staff is very attention and professional... The example come from the management , Giulio the manager of the restaurant is a perfect leader for all team ! The food is so tasty and buffet is beautiful with fresh products of Sardinia. The owner Mr. Gino Loi is the best !

Great Hotel with a lot of divertisment opportunities

klaudiusbon 13/09/2016 14:34

We travelled with 2 little girls so we received a place on the ground level, in an area mostly with families. I find it nice that they try to arrange families with kids in one part, and adults in another part of the hotel.
Food is very good, pasta fans will be happy on all the alternatives. Grill almost every second day. I barely saw fries in the restaurant, which is a good sign, i would say.
Pool is the greatest I saw, you can swim 30min without bumping in another person.
The entertainment provided is nice: activities all day around while in the evening they have specific show for every day. I mean real show with 15 performers (coreagrophers, balet dancers, samba, theatre small plays, ...)
Beach is nice but a little abrupt for small kids.
All inclusive is great, including also Martini, local beer for example. Pretentious pay a little extra for special cocktails.
Troublesome somehow the Card system they have: some things you can only pay with Card prepaid in reception, some others you can only pay with cash.

Poor hotel, definitely not 4 star

Lukas Hon 07/09/2016 19:01

Spent one-week all-inclusive holiday in the hotel.

Firstly let’s mention the things that are good – situated in an impressive large and well-kept garden area with similarly impressively large pool, clear waters in the sea…and nice weather. Unfortunately that is about it for the hotel that I can say was unconditionally positive – so all the other things amount to a fairly poor experience we had in the hotel.

Hotel
Don’t expect the white sandy beach that you see on Sardinia marketing pictures, don’t even expect the “medium-grained golden sand” as the hotel advertises but a rather coarse sand beach. This is a monster hotel – large area over three stories, with crowds of people and the accompanied feel. Due to the hotel’s architecture, many of the rooms have a balcony facing the balconies of other rooms or hotel hallways – a bit like being back in some city staring into neighbours’ windows. The hotel rooms could use better care as faulty showers or dirty curtains seem to be a common occurrence. You need to pay to connect to hotel wifi (think EUR 5 for 24 hours) and it works just in the reception area so given the size of the hotel it is basically useless.

“All-inclusive”
The all-inclusive selection of drinks is very poor (and to be honest – this is the only reason I guess anyone chooses all-inclusive instead of full board). From alcoholic beverages you can only get beer and local white and red wine (the red is quite undrinkable). You need to pay for everything else – and if I consider that you end up paying EUR 7 for 2.5dcl glass (filled with ice) of Aperol Spritz then you really end up paying handsomely for the drinks. (Not to linger on Aperol Spritz too much, but in another 4-star beach-side hotel also in the Orosei area you get this drink as part of all-inclusive for a similar, if not cheaper, price for the holiday.) Food quality and choice is also quite poor – the buffet is very repetitive and if you don’t want to eat pasta as every single meal then you are definitely not up for a culinary celebration in this place. Moreover, the all-inclusive works just from 10am to 10pm and the hotel takes it literally – so if you come to a pool bar in the morning to get a coffee at 9:50, they will make you wait the 10 minutes to be on the clock. And BTW - despite it being an all-inclusive holiday, you need to pay extra for a daily rental of beach towels (EUR 2.5 a day) – and I mean real rental because they charge you even if you don’t exchange them for new ones every day.

Services
The biggest problem with the hotel though is the services – something is simply always not working. Let it be the housekeeping taking towels from your room and not giving you new ones, broken elevators, running out of wine during dinner, half of juice and coffee dispensers in the restaurant out of order, constant shortage of some pieces of cutlery or coffee cups… you name it – always something. We literally didn’t have a single meal in the restaurant with everything running smoothly and something not missing. Add this to the fact that almost none of the staff speaks any other language than Italian (and this is including reception staff – you can maybe get away with French, but trying using English is a disaster) and you end up in pretty helpless situations (and comical as well – using your arms and legs to explain things). Another thing that further compounds the unsatisfactory services is the general unhelpfulness of a lot of the staff – this is a hard one to pinpoint exactly as is more of a feeling but the impression was a bit that you are bothering them every time you approach them. And another thing – really an icing on a cake for a 4-star hotel – the hotel loves using plastic things – they give plastic cups in the rooms instead of normal glasses (which BTW the housekeeping took away on day 4 and never replaced so we ended up without glasses completely) and when I was looking for a spoon to eat breakfast cereals, I was pointed to mini super-flat white plastic spoons (pictured) that they were offering to guests instead of normal spoons. Add all this to the non-existence of must-have-services for 4-star hotels like room service and you end up really wondering how did they receive these stars.

All in all, this hotel is a far cry from what it claims to be and, plainly speaking, for what you are getting in the general hotel service and the all-inclusive package it is really overpriced.
