A Unique Place to Stay

We stayed in room 512 which is an upper level corner unit in the Blue Heron Building. It was beautifully spacious with two separate bathrooms, large soaker tub, fully equipped kitchen, comfy pull out couch, gas fireplace, large balcony/porch with a view of the pond, boathouse and other buildings. The bathroom amenities were of excellent quality, there was an option to borrow appliances such as a panini maker and waffle maker, a washer and dryer were included in the unit, the decor was modelled after a muskoka cottage and was very homey. Breakfast buffet offered in the gorgeous Lodge building on the weekends with an option for a breakfast basket delivered to your room 7 days a week. Gym is ample with adjoining hot tubs for family or adult only use. Theatre with nightly movies and video games room open to guests. I absolutely loved the homey feel of our unit.
Cozy Ski Resort Getaway

We visited this resort late in the season as the hills were mostly closing and the conditions were not super however we had a great time and loved the location. The rooms are very spacious (we had a two bedroom configuration) with everything you need to host yourself if you feel like grabbing groceries and staying in. Beds are comfortable, washer/dryer available in room if needed, parking included and a very nice common area with hot tub, game room, lounge and in warmer temperatures swimming.
Around the resort is beautiful with plenty of scenery and hiking trails to enjoy. The area is loaded with outdoor activities to enjoy no matter the season and of course in the winter skiing is the main attraction. If you are used to more difficult or large mountains, this place does not meet that expectation however they are great for beginners/intermediate skiers, or advanced skiers who are just looking to get out on the slopes.
Overall a comfy hotel in a beautiful part of Ontario, worth checking out the location and staying at Embarc if you can!
Lakeside rooms at Blue

We've stayed a number of good times at Embarc, summer and winter; every time has been memorable. It's ideal for non-smoking families--with fully equipped kitchens and "boathouse" outdoor pool/Activity Centre, which allows complimentary lounging (day usage) before check-in or after check-out. Service is always good. Reception has an arcade and movie theatre below, and a wide range of free DVD movies for borrowing. Larger (1-3 bedroom) units have their own patio furniture or hammock in serene surroundings, including free herbs for the picking, and covered BBQs. There's onsite beach volleyball and sand-castles in the summer; free quick shuttles to the ski-mountain base in winter. Living room sofabeds can accommodate 2 extra people in front of the fireplace TV. Heating and air con are reliable, and even 1-bedrooms have in-suite washer/dryer with detergent. Basically, you can expect a private post-and-beam style timeshare/condo in a relaxed cottage environment. This resort was recently bought from Intrawest by Diamonds International, which has made some improvements and new buildings. The member base is growing. For any traveller from out of town, there are $25 "airport" ski-shuttles (AUC picks up passengers outside Finch subway station on the East side of Yonge; Greyhound departs by Chestnut Street/Bay, downtown, near St. Patrick TTC station). Whereas other accommodation bookings on Blue Mountain website require trekking for key pick-up at the far side inn to check-in anyplace, Embarc is a convenient one-stop across from the village market and conference centre...with free onsite parking. I would return to Embarc again, including the Apple Fair at Blue (with free daily return shuttles to Thornbury town, 10 minutes away), Oct. Thanksgiving weekend. You'll rush to get here, and then take your time to unwind!
Awesome Getaway!

Travelled early September. It was very quiet. Very nice accommodations. We stayed in a studio room. It was very spacious and well laid out. It was chilly when we were there, so we enjoyed the gas fireplace in the room. The kitchenette was well appointed with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, kettle. toaster and dishes. Everything we needed and more. The staff was very friendly and super helpful. We loved the hammock on the balcony. The hot tub and pool were very nice. The location is great! It's an easy, short walk to the village. (A free shuttle is available if you don't want to walk.) The breakfast baskets are delicious and affordable if you don't want to take a lot of food with you to make your own meals. I would recommend taking some beverages if nothing else. There is not much available on site aside from a limited selection in a vending machine located in the bottom of the boat house. Would definitely stay here again.
Fantastic Resort for Mamma's Birthday

We booked the Embarc for Mum's birthday and she was not disappointed. So, you know this one is a winner!
We loved the decor of the unit and made use of the hammock, adult only pool area and hot tub. There were quite a few children at the resort and they looked like they were enjoying the family pool as well as hunting for frogs in the pond with their fishing nets. In the evening we saw many enjoying their decks/balconies. And the check-in/out staff were very friendly.
Some other perks included a washer/dryer in the unit as well as complimentary tide detergent. There is also a shuttle that will take you to the village or you can walk, which would take about 5-10 minutes.
However, I did find the room a little dusty but nothing a Lysol wipe couldn't fix. As well, we booked a 1 bedroom unit with a pull out sofa bed. This unit came with 2 bathrooms which was a plus but if you are a group of 4 staying a while, you may want to consider a 2 bedroom. We also thought that the adult hot tub needed some updating. And just as a note, you do not receive housekeeping services if your stay is less than 5 days and therefore you will have to empty your own garbage for shorter stays and wash your towels (again, no biggie).
Overall, I would score this resort a 4.5 but I'm rounding up as we were very happy with the resort and we will be returning.
