Girls Getaway - Coconut Villas of Dunedin

My sisters and I stayed in 2679A (ground floor) also called Bird of Paradise. We were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the condo. Nice size kitchen and most of the things you would need to cook in although we ate out most of the time. The beds in both bedrooms were comfortable but we would have loved to have had one other bathroom or half bath for 4 girls getting ready each day! Also, we are Floridians and fairly used to the heat, but the pool could cook you like a lobster! Which is to be expected in Florida in August. There was a nice size dock out the back patio door where we spent one evening watching dolphin play in the river and bay. We enjoyed one day in Tarpon Springs which is a short drive away, another day at Honeymoon Island ($8/car load) and the last day in Dunedin which is a very walkable town with numerous breweries. We enjoyed local breakfast at Brenda's on the Causeway and Benedict's Family Diner. Frenchy's Outpost Bar & Grill is a short walk from the condo but be prepared for noise and heat. We actually got our dinner to go and took it back to the condo to enjoy it there. It was the first time any of us had been to any of these places and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

So, we won 3 free nights at this place when attending an event at Lake Eola in Orlando. I booked those three nights and added three more. It is managed by a company called TRS and they had amazing service and representatives. I changed my reservation about three times before I finally arrived. They didn't blink. Thanks TRS!
We stayed in a two bedroom one bath condo with my family of 6. Only the single bath was an issue. We knew that going in.
There are two small pools (because the villas are 5 building separated by other identical buildings owned and operated by others) with Tiki style tables where we sat every morning and night to eat breakfast and dinner while the kids swam. Gas grills by the pools were for all to use. The villas are surrounded by canals and are very serene. Downstairs your sliders go out to a porch and lawn then a seawall. Upstairs back porches have stairs right down to the same grass, so everyone gets the same view essentially.
Free beach bikes on property. Beach chairs in the closet when we arrived. Bring some beach towels. They only have a few for showers. There are w/d right out the door too. His place was simple and easy.
Amazing view

My childhood friend and I stayed in a unit with a gulf view [ a quick trip to help my parents and to spend mother's day, with my Momma! ] ..... Two bedrooms, living, full kitchen, 1 small bathroom.........outside there are two rocking chairs, to enjoy while waiting for the dolphins to appear, birds, and fish jumping. Peaceful and quiet. The unit needed some updates: new skillet, a few lightbulbs, and the heat pump needs to be checked- not working proficiently. The unit could use some fluffier towels and more kitchen towels. . The villas are conveniently located on the causeway- close to Honeymoon Island and the town of Dunedin. WiFi was also spotty and not very strong. TV in the living room needs to be replaced also.... faded picture and no guide on how to use the old one and the stations available. We decided we would stay there again!
Great location and very clean unit

Nice, but know what you're getting. We rented 2679A on short notice over Christmas for $178/night (not booked through TripAdvisor). Owner was very quick to respond to initial inquiries. Lovely outdoor area with beautiful mornings/tons of wildlife and very clean unit. Serviceable LR furniture and renovated kitchen. Great location for Caladesi & Honeymoon islands. On the downside: The kitchen during our stay was poorly equipped (4 forks! One baking/roasting pan). In addition, by the end of stay we realized oven was not working properly; everything took double time to cook. A/C not blowing at all when first arrived so had to call maintenance for Christmas Eve day visit. Later noticed manual in apt said A/C should not be set below 74 or renter risks charges from service call if unit failed (!!!) One mattress had noticeable canyon and other one also pretty tired. Photos are from our dock at the unit.
Mostly Amazing ..... but some disapointments

Pros - Kitchen was spacious. I was actually envious. Rooms were a good size and beds comfortable. Pool was small, but heated. Balcony offered some great views. We actually saw some dolphins up close a few times, which was amazing. It is close to a grocery store, pharmacy and few restaurants (all walk-able). If you're fit you can walk to Honeymoon Park (though it would be far - much easier bike ride). Great location.
Cons - There is a note in a picture frame when you arrive stating that they supply beach towels, beach bag and 1st pot of coffee. None of these were supplied. We inquired, but they stated that they no longer supply these things (then why state so in a note enclosed in a picture frame?). We had to supply our own hand soap and toilet paper, which I thought was odd, but this may be normal. Towards the end of the vacation I noticed mold in the shower. Corner of the ceiling and on the shower curtain. This was of course very disappointing. The AC was very loud when it would kick in. It woke one family member up a bunch, so we ended up just use the fan setting in the evening.
Overall it was a good stay. Some disappointments (mold was the biggie), but I would recommend. Maybe like a 3.5 rating.
