What People are saying
ok to stay here; eat breakfast elsewhere

First of all, the hotel is very nice. Spotlessly clean, friendly/helpful front desk staff. We'd stay there again, and most likely will.
Our "average" rating came from the breakfast. Not well supplied, and not EVER replenished. The staff member apparently responsible stayed in the prep room texting on her cell phone the ENTIRE time we were at breakfast.
I'm sure the manager is simply unaware of what doesn't get done on weekends, when she's not onsite.
To be fair, I tried repeatedly to call and talk to the manager directly. I was told "she's not here, she'll be here at such-and-such a time" but when I called back at that time, I was told "she's gone for the day". 4 days in a row...hmmmmm
A few bumps

We had been on the road all day, so dog tired. The first room we got was dirty. It had unmade bed , books, and unclean bath room. The next room was clean except coffee pot that had used filter and old coffee.
There was staff party the night we stayed so alittle noisy.
Good Choice in Socorro

Everything was fine-cleanliness, beds, check in, breakfast etc. The hotel is a little off the freeway so it is quiet. It is a good value for the area. It met our expectations. I would stay here again if I were in the area.

As a frequent New Mexico Traveler, I have booked this hotel on many occasions. I began staying there when it first opened and continued as it grew and developed. Indeed I frequently stay in Comfort Inns during leisure travel, but nevermore... In May I was delighted to see that the Socorro, NM hotel was not only refurbished, the newly location accepted pets. A 10$ cleaning fee was charged per pet per night.
Now, my dogs are well-behaved, quiet and clean. I understand that not all dogs are. I was shocked, however, to arrive at the Socorro, NM Comfort Inn on Saturday night only to find that management had changed the pet policy without posting the change on the website. I was on my way to CSU school of Veterinary Medicine with a pup that needed heart surgery. The reservations were made days earlier, so Choice Hotels had adequate time to let me know of the change
I earlier in the week, was relieved about the Comfort Inn's pet policy and reassured that I would have great accommodations. Earlier that day I had been flooded out of my ranch and could not drop off my second dog, so I was traveling with both pets. I called the "front desk" listing to let the hotel know I would require a ground floor room, as traveling with two dogs was twice the work when going for walks and late-night "strolls". The advisor who took my call, lied after I repeatedly asked him if I was speaking to the actual Socorro location. I requested a ground-floor room, as my plans had changed. He told me he could not make the change. He said nothing about the locations pet-policy change. Instead he transferred me to a sales agent who tried to sell me a time-share operations that apparently is partnering with Choice Hotels.
When I finally arrived at the hotel late in the evening, the desk clerk informed me that the manager had changed the pet policy and that I was not welcome. I let her know that I was a Choice Privileges member and did post reviews with Trip Advisor. She would not budge on the issue. She didn't even try to help me find an alternative. I was left without accommodations late in the evening. Luckily I was able to find another hotel on my own, but I suspect there were bedbugs as evidenced by numerous welts I'm now sporting.
I am appalled at this hotel and the audacity of the manager of making policy without corporate oversight. More so, the policy accepting pets is still posted on the internet.
The inconvenience, not to mention the damage to me causing exhaustion and a possible bedbug infestation is a direct result of this Comfort Inn's omission. I am pretty much done with Choice Hotels as a viable choice for pet owners. Worse yet, I haven't been able to find out if I was charged for the stay.
Hotel chains would be wise to recognize the trend among retirees to travel with their furry children, and to make clean, comfortable rooms available for pet owners. We still have the power of financial stability and we love our pets.
Shame on Choice Hotels for their omission.

We checked in, dead tired, after a long drive that included 2 hour and 30 minutes traffic tie up. Just crazy tired. Checked in, went straight to the room, undressed and prepared to crash. Then saw bugs on the bed, bugs in the bed, bugs in the drawers, bugs under the window sill, bugs coming out of the AC, lots of bugs. The Comfort Inn Staff seemed very unconcerned, and had no other room. So we quickly got dressed, shook out our belongings and went to the lobby. The staff member had to get "permission" from the manager to take it off our credit card. This was on July 26, 2017. The charge is still on our credit card. So far, Choice Hotels Corp has been unavailable and they have no venues for filing a complaint.
