First, this hotel may technically be in Christiansburg, but I would definitely consider it Radford. If you are visiting a student at Virginia Tech, it is a good 30 minute drive. The staff is very friendly, thus the extra star. Also, they do allow pets which is a plus for us. The room was clean enough, but has the old wall A/C unit. The hot tub was very dirty and unusable which was frustrating given the elevated price and the two night minimum stay due to a football weekend. I would not be suckered into that deal again!

We stayed at the Comfort Inn due to a a late VA Tech game and this was the only hotel available in the Blacksburg/Christiansburg area. That said, this is really located in Radford and was a good 25 minutes from the stadium.
The Good: Very comfortable beds, room was clean, mostly updated bathroom, had a fridge and microwave, and a good selection of tv channels.
The Bad: Room has a funky smell, construction going on so hallways were very torn up and dirty, only one slow elevator, no restaurants close-by, and overly expensive for the current quality of the hotel.

This Comfort Inn was very nice. Updated, clean and a very friendly staff. Nice linens and plenty of hot water for showers. We were very pleased with the location and there was plenty of parking. We will stay here again when in the area.

FIRE TRAP -- Mattresses blocking stairwell exit

Stayed here on a Thursday night and had a great stay -- clean room and great breakfast. Returned to hotel for Saturday night stay and had complete opposite experience. Bathroom sink had hair and grass in it. Looked like toothpaste splatter on mirror. There was also hair in the tub. Room smelled liked musty smoke (thought it surely had to be from new carpet since hotel is supposed to be 100% smoke free)...but next comes the biggest concern. Hotel was fairly full and elevators were slow. My family decided to take the stairs down from 3rd floor to the lobby for breakfast and found stairwell at 1st level completely impassable. It was stuffed full of mattresses. Sure am glad there wasn't an emergency at hotel during our stay that required guests and staff to exit via stairwells!

I can’t say enough about how friendly the staff here was - they were so super kind and that goes a long way in any business these days. The breakfast was also great - fresh waffle maker, eggs, sausage, fruit, cereal and more. The room however left something to be desired. We stayed on the 3rd floor and our room smelled not just musty but like smoke. For a smoke-free hotel we were not happy with that fact, but we got in at 1 am after watching VT lose to Clemson so we were at our wits end and didn’t think complaining would get us anywhere. All in all, it was a good deal but they really should do something about the smell. It was in the hallways as well. I noticed they’re doing “renovations” as there were signs up and rolls of carpet in the halls... but that’s still not an excuse.
