Honestly, I'm happy with the management and staff. This place is absolutely a no frills, no extravagance meets what is necessary type of place.
Pros:
-The location realistically can't be beat. Next door: One side is starbucks, burger king, other side is In and Out. Across the street is 7/11.
-Hollywood Blvd is like a 8 minute walk.
-Hollywood bowl was like a 25 minute walk, literally faster than driving after a concert (about an hour)
-Value: the cost is great for the location but keep in mind definitely a no frills experience.
-Maybe 15-20 minute Uber from Universal
Cons:
-Thin walls and ceiling. I could hear my next door neighbors talking, and my upstairs neighbors walking.
-Room while clean, smelled very strongly of cleaning solution. I had to air it out a bit
-CANNOT HOLD YOUR BAGS IF YOU ARRIVE EARLY OR LEAVE LATER. There is no bag check of any sort so this is something you definitely need to know.
-The carpet is dirty. It turned my socks black so I was forced to wear slippers in the room.
All and all, I'd stay here again but maybe splurge a little bit on a better hotel if you're not just using the place for sleep

Stayed here a few years ago and enjoyed it then it was a nice clean hotel in a great location.
On a recent trip we decided to visit again based on previous experience and the location can not be beat.
Boy has it gone downhill. Upon arrival we were given a room on the third floor. Upon entry the room was very hot! turned on the loud AC unit, that hasn't been cleaned in years. Made it a little better.
Room needs to be renovated; it looks so run down. It was clean..ish..
The comforter cover had burn holes in it, which is weird for a non-smoking room. Beds are not that comfortable. Lamp shades in the room broken. Bathroom was clean, no complaints there.
There are no privacy/black out curtains in the room; so warning in the morning the room will be bright.
Also if you have sensitive nose. The smell of cleaning solution in the room was unbearable!!
Breakfast was included I personally never went down to have any in the morning but my husband didn't seem to have any complaints.
He also used the pool a couple of times. Said one of the mornings there was a homless man sleeping on one of the pool chairs. anyone can access the pool area no key card is required.
We used the elevator the first day and a couple of other times. It was slightly terrifying and also noticed that the license has been expired for a coupe of years...so maybe avoid that.
Our biggest problem was on check out. we had a late flight not departing until 11pm that evening. We asked the front desk if there was somewhere we could store our bags for the day. (I have stayed in many hotels all over the world and have never had a problem with this) We were told NO. simply because "it's too inconvenient". We ended up having to pay another $200.00 to keep the room for the day as this was our only options.
Location is good a very short walk to many attractions. It is definitely an interesting area especially at night. I wouldn't want to walk in the area by myself in the evening. Even during the day there are some interesting characters in the area.
I would not stay here again. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere nicer.
Upon check in we both desperately wanted to find somewhere else to say but unfortunately could not find any decently priced hotels available. so we just sucked it up, and spent very little time at the hotel.

This Comfort Inn is run down, shabby but clean and located very conveniently to all parts of LA. Don't expect much if you book it. Street noise is pervasive. Breakfast is mostly carbs and prefab eggs, but coffee is good. TV is Direct TV and loses signal briefly very so often. ALSO be sure you know they charge $20 for parking, though on the website it says parking included. They sent me a notice telling me I'd pay $20 per night sometime after I booked. It was not an expensive hotel, and I stayed for 3 days and did fine. Just have lowish expectation. The fact it was clean was a big plus, and good location.

No wifi, if it is - it is just for the name sake.
Absolutely rude staff, they are not even bothered if it works or not as per them. As per them their wifi does not work on iphones (how miserable)
Lamp shades in dying state. God knows why has choice group taken this hotel in its list.

This is not a hotel you want to stay in. It is old in every aspect of it. Rooms, furniture, walls. Did I mentioned OLD?!
The staff is actually very good. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, but there is only so much that they can do. Breakfast is acceptable.
It is about 15 -20 min. Walk to Chinese theatre.
